Hell is Us

[h1] HALF IS US [/h1] [b] Expectation: [/b] Finish the game → get answers → understand the story. BUT..... [b] Reality: [/b] Finish the game → stare at the screen → “...what?” [h2] The game really said: [/h2] [b] “You wanted an ending. We gave you an experience.” [/b] [b] Great game. Terrible employee. I finished it, but somehow the story still feels unfinished [/b]

Surprisingly good, the world really drew me in. More of a mystery game than I expected. I was glad to finish it.

Hell is Us is a good game. It has a depressing but a beautiful world, lots of cool puzzles to solve, weird and uncomfortable enemies to fight, and cool weapons. However, there are a few negatives that I have. 1. The enemies you fight with get repeated throughout Hadea's locations and it get repetitive. Thankfully, the update that's coming out in October is fixing that issue, so I'm not complaining. 2. The weapons have cool designs like the Rage Greatsword, but all of them have the movesets. I hope that update fixes this issue, but I'm feeling I'm asking a lot. 3. And finally, the biggest issue I have is that...... There are no different ponchos to wear. You gets caps throughout the game, but the only poncho you wear is the OMSIF Poncho, and thankfully, the pre-order ponchos are available to buy, but I wish there were ponchos in the main game. But overall, Hell is Us is a good game, and I like a game that doesn't tell me where to go, (I'm looking at you, Marvel's Wolverine). Either if you buy the game now, or wait until the October update, I recommend this game, despite the flaws.

Good Concept, amazing environment, deep and rich lore. The game really motivates you to finish puzzles and uncover mysteries. Gets you immersed in the story, the world and NPCs. I really do appreciate a game that goes above and beyond to make you care about the world it's presenting to you. The voice acting had a lot emotions into it, which helped alot. Puzzles were fun and challenging which honestly really upped the level of the game. Now the bad part, the combat at some point gets repetitive, go into an area rinse and repeat with the mobs, kinda wish they played a bit more with the different emotions aspect with the combat like they did with the lore. Maybe something along like Tsuhima instead with different stances you use different emotions to counter the enemies, idk just a thought. Anyway all in all, i'd give it a 8 out 10, combat really dragged it down from a 9. You'll enjoy the atmosphere that's for sure.

This was a good game at the discount price I picked it up at. The story is decent nothing amazing or reinventing of the wheel but flows nicely. Where this game really stands out is the world building for the country the game take place in. However, there are rough patches throughout, the combat is clunky to say the least even messing around with all the glyphs and 4 weapon types non of them felt great. The enemies are carbon copies of the same 5 types with variation coming from the umbilical type. Group battles with the whole group tied to one umbilical suck its basically stun the range one bash the core kill the range one then slog through the fight to completion. The puzzles are fun but only if you like taking notes and circling back to an area once you find the key in a new area or find the info later in the same area. If you don't like that game loop then this will feel like a walking sim with clunky combat. Overall I would recommend the game not as a soulslike more like an old school Resident Evil games with no hot weapons only cold weapons.
