It's one of those games that feel instantly nostalgic even though you've never played it before. The naive art style fits incredibly well with the rest of the game and its witty/cosy/easygoing writing, and evrything just clicks together perfectly. Gameplay wise it's surprisingly well made and balanced as well. A lot of times games that win in the style lack in gameplay, but this one gets everything right, from progression to combat mechanics, and i believe even people who don't like jrpgs would enjoy it. I loved every second of it. Honestly, i'm surprised it hasn't exploded more becuase it has huge potential. The publisher needs to step up their game because this is a hidden gem that's been out for a year and not much copies have been sold
This game was a kind of short but ultimately fun experience. I honestly didn't care much for the combat, as it was pretty easy to steamroll through with the same few status effect abilities, but what I loved is how much optional stuff there is to find and do. I found that a lot of my enjoyment came from the small puzzles there were tucked away in certain locations, the side quests that gave more meaning to the combat encounters than "clear out a dungeon and here's the key," and the small secrets scattered around that rewarded you for taking the time to find them. For those who are fans of games like West of Loathing, I would definitely recommend this game. Also, I'd like to say that I love how this game looks and sounds.
Light-hearted, pleasant throwback to the RPGs of old. Minimal writing to get the story going, but the writing is funny. A playthrough takes around 7-9 hours. This feels like the just right length, and is replayable (though only for character builds, not for story decisions). There are no branching paths, but there are side quests.
Very fun game, and also very re-playable because of how you can choose your class at the beginning. None of the battles were so hard it was frustrating, but there were still some that took multiple tries, which I liked. I can't really think of something I disliked about the game, so I would definitely recommended it
A joyful, perfectly-sized portion of classic Might & Magic-style gameplay. The hand-drawn art is irresistably lovely, the world is fun to explore without being exhausting, the combat is brisk and a bit threatening if you dial the difficulty up. The high gold price of master-level skills & spells, at first seeming like a curious design decision, actually makes for a good cadence to overall party progression & encourages some thought if you're trying to go through the game at a brisk pace. Grinding is *not* necessary (or at least wasn't for my party composition) to clear the game; there are several different avenues to become grossly powerful, as there should be. I'll be there with bells on for Heroes of the Underworld & whatever comes after.
just a really delightful little game, had a blast playing it!
