About Hex

Turn-based, isometric, party-based tactical RPG. Innovative gameplay, permadeath, realistic armor system, lethal and non-lethal attacks, lots of realistic and meaningfully different weapons. No save-scumming, no grind, no HP bloat, no randomly dying from things you don’t control. Easy to learn and hard to master.

The game combines previewing enemy attacks with a system where random values are calculated before player makes the decision. The core principle is that all new variables that affect the gameplay are always introduced at the beginning of the turn, giving player time to react. This approach allows to create a very challenging but fair combat with high stakes and long-lasting consequences. The system is designed in a way to make player’s decisions more important than random rolls. For example, you won’t lose because you missed several times in a row on attacks that seemed like a sure hit. You won’t lose because the enemy rolled a lucky crit and killed one of your team and you had no way to prevent it. The game is entirely predictable within any single turn, but each new turn can create a unique situation on the battlefield that player will have to deal with.

Key features:
 • All enemy attacks for their next turn are shown in advance, giving player ability to react. Each turn therefore presents a unique tactical puzzle the player must solve.
 • All random variables are calculated at the start of the turn, so you will always know the exact result of your every action. This approach combines the best of both random and deterministic systems.
 • Complex system where each action resolved using multiple checks that depend on dozens of variables. The system supports a variety of playstyles and allows for multitude of classes and weapons that each has it's uses.
 • Large selection of realistic weapons and armor. Design inspired by real historic examples and each piece of equipment has its own tactical niche, consistent with how it's actually were used.
 • Saving system which combines Ironman mode with the ability to retry encounters and pick the best outcome (retry attempts are limited). This way you have to carefuly plan your every action, but a single mistake won't ruin an entire playthrough.
 • Permadeath. Squadmates that die in battle are gone forever. If your main char dies and you have no retries it's game over.
 • Good balance between melee, ranged and magic abilities.
Information / Review English
Hex is a tactical/strategy game developed by Sunny Days and is still under development, so bugs may still exist in the game.
Gameplay / Story
I think that based on this game, fantasy/medieval settings have been adapted. The player himself represents a sort of military adviser/strategist making decisions for a group of individual characters. Most of the game is presented in a plan view of a map divided into square fields, where the fights and sometimes small actions take place. In the battles, which are carried out on a chessboard-like field based on turns, you control the companions currently belonging to your own group. Depending on the size of the group and the specifications of the map, it may be necessary to select the participating figures beforehand, which enables tactical decisions to be made. Each character can be moved independently of the others, with their play values and class determining the specific movement and combat options available. The map on which the clashes take place is influenced by different types of terrain, which can affect different characters differently. The objectives of the individual fights ar…

April 2025 Review Edit: Last Updated by dev in October 2023, last communications occured in April 2024, game seems abandoned. Gameplay consists at this stage (03/2023) of creating a body to put on a battlefield made of hexes where you and a bunch of other bodies you've hired fight set piece battles with a relatively detailed aiming/slashing/stabbing of individual body parts. Choices of what to take on the field are given a cost to which you have to weigh against a supply limit. If you're one of those that feel games have a problem of having pesky stories you have to click through to get to the meat of the game, then this is definitely in your wheelhouse.

OK from what i seen and played this is a tactical simulator not a rpg. The game does have some nice features the combat system is nice but it would be nice to see a world in this game the animation is bare bone its stop motion animation but it is handled well enough to be play and taken seriously. Hopefully there will be an update that actually make this into an rpg currently as it stands its a game of chess done in 3d nice idea though. my review remain neutral there is a lot this game needs work on. not sure if the dev is working alone or are they still working on this. If you are looking for a tactical simulator ok this game is for you if you looking for a game that has a flushed out story a feeling of wonderlust and exploration... dont get this game its going to get the thumbs up because its not really bad but it a single demension game.
