the usual endless/random hex- and card-based islanders-like. plonk down buildings and whatnot to spread your settlement as far and wide as possible. controls are mouse-based, no keyboard support at all. buildings have to be dragged onto the map, click to pick up, click to place doesn't work, left click inspects them and holding it anywhere drags the map. right click does nothing, that should be inspect, or simply mouseover, allowing for a more accessible control system. even if you don't mind dragging, icons are much bigger if the map is zoomed out (mouse wheel), so it can be hard to tell if something can be placed or not. most stuff only goes on completely empty tiles but more advanced structures have special needs. basically, placement can happen where you want it, elsewhere or nowhere, and there's no undo, so a misclick can easily cost you the run. oh, and can't get info on placed tiles, and with some buildings looking very similar, it can also lead to frustration. very basic gameplay, all 5 levels look the same and are almost identical otherwise but only classic has a leaderboard for some…

Good game! You'll need a strong mix of exploration, resource conservation, and planning ahead in order to get a high score. Came from the developer's most recent game (Iron Mandate) and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the future!!

Hexton is a very nice card-based puzzle/strategy builder. The concept is simple: buy cards to place buildings/fields, earn resources to buy further cards and expand the map. The cards give you all the information you'll need for what the buildings offer/want. Some less common buildings give you nothing unless certain requirements are met, and that's where the strategy ramps up. That and the terrain. Initially, the mountains, rocky areas, rivers and sea seem nothing more than obstructions, but this clever little game will soon have you utilising everything in different ways. There are also different maps to play, each with their own challenges. All in all, Hexton is a steal, even at full price!

Fun and challenging. A good deal for that price.
