About Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead

Following the success of the RPG-Parody Grotesque Tactics franchise, comes a spin-off nestled in the heart of a tropical zombie bevvy of beauties against the greatest hero of them all, conveniently titled: Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead

As the story goes...

...after the last great battle, our hero Holy Avatar decides to grab a little R&R with his Guild of Maidens on a Caribbean island he recently purchased and renamed “Holy Island”.

Upon arrival on the beach, he makes a gruesome discovery; numerous dead maidens, horribly mutilated, are scattered all over the island and what’s worse, they’re not staying dead! Holy Avatar must put down his mai tai and investigate this strange and unsettling turn of events. New adventures, new hazards and, did we mention the zombies… await our hero and his companions inside the dense woods and caves of this once idyllic island.

I give up trying to read the text in this game. Font and color is completely crazy choices. So uninstall and then next game.

Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead, developed and published by Silent Dreams, is a peculiar and lighthearted tactical RPG that mixes strategy gameplay with self-aware humor and an unmistakably satirical tone. Set on a sunny tropical island infested with the undead, the game follows the pompous and self-proclaimed hero Holy Avatar, who embarks on what was supposed to be a peaceful retreat with his loyal maidens. Their vacation quickly takes a bizarre turn as they discover the island overrun by zombies, skeletons, and other undead monstrosities. The setup is absurd by design, poking fun at the overly dramatic storylines and inflated egos common in fantasy role-playing games. Rather than aiming for deep lore or emotional storytelling, the game focuses on humor, parody, and stylized adventure, creating a tongue-in-cheek experience that is more about poking fun at RPG conventions than following them. Gameplay in Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead follows a hybrid formula that blends exploration with turn-based tactical combat. You control a small party of heroes navigating a series of tropical maps, encountering groups of enemies, collecting loot, and progressing through a linear sto…

Shorter than the previous two games with a very sad boss fight.

couldn't bring myself to finish the other previous games (serious lack of QoL features) at least this one has a map and it's short

Honestly, there's one thing that stands out about this game over others. The humor. It's just so good. So, SOO good. I'll explain the first joke in the game. Those who have played other games in this series will know: The protagonist is perfect in just about every way, handsome, strong, wealthy, popular... but he has one weakness. He's got a God complex. He refers to himself as a "most humble semi-divine" being. He's at a beach filled with beautiful women, and he's about to make some moves. Finally, he returns to the beach to notice all the girls dead. He's shocked, naturally. So he ponders what caused this. What conclusion does he arrive at? He concludes that as soon as he left the girls got jealous of the girl he was flirting with and started killing each other. I broke down laughing. Tactically if you're in the mood for a fire emblem hex grid type of game I'd recommend you try this one out.

Fun and fast little game. Had some nice twists in it and surprisingly the fact that Holy Avatar isn't a paragon of virtue isn't one of them since there were signs in the previous games. Still I miss Emo Drake as main character though the satire to be won from Holy's and his angel's viewpoint is a boon here. The fact that I didn't run into any bugs didn't hurt either. All in all a good game for one afternoon and an easy achievement ribbon.
