Hyperbolica is a first-person exploration game set in mind-bending Non-Euclidean spaces where the laws of geometry work differently than reality. How is hyperbolic space different?
Hyperbolic space allows exponentially more volume to fit in the same 'space' than you'd normally expect. This allows you to explore enormous areas while taking very little time to walk anywhere. You'll find that building a mental map of your surroundings becomes impossible. Lines can no longer stay parallel. Traversing the map can result in unexpected rotations. And many more strange consequences that will make you question reality. You'll also explore spherical space, which has the opposite outcomes. For example, a reverse-perspective: Objects appear larger the farther away they are.
It's a difficult concept to explain, and first-hand experience really is the best way to understand and build an intuition about these interesting geometries. Hyperbolica was created specifically for this purpose, to break the mold and to have a fun experience in an alternative universe different from our own.

Pretty alright exploration game, with some fun NPC's and some decent puzzles/minigames. The main focus is how the world is very non-euclidean, and how you'll manage to do your tasks while the world wraps and bends around you in some crazy ways. However, I didn't find it too memorable when compared with other games that tried the same. And it feels a little nauseating sometimes (specially if you try the VR mode). But overall, I'd still say Hyperbolica is a nice short experience. It's not a mind-blowing game, but it did make my mind go in circles, in a good way.3 found this helpful
Finally, I can actually experience non-Euclidean space instead of just looking at the formulas. I learned about non-Euclidean and differential geometry in Leonard Susskind's General Relativity course. Despite Susskind's attempts to make it as grounded as possible, all I could learn about these strange geometries were the mathematical formulas. Until I played this game, I couldn't really see or experience non-Euclidean geometry.3 found this helpful
It was a fun game. It doesn't really explain the hyperbolic space, though it does attempt to, so if you want to actually understand it, you better watch the video on YouTube. It still was fun to experience something unusual.2 found this helpful
