Into the Slimy Mines

The demo hooked me (which doesent happen too often to any great degree) and the main game has let me continue on my merry way. As TD titles go, this is very interesting and different - you will have to think a lot as the game gradually educates you in its nuances. Not easy and I have lost a few games - interesting upgrades. Can't wait to give it another go!! (without getting divorced).

there are some indie games that have a low amount but high percentage of positive reviews. with only an hour or two playtime for most reviewers. this game here is different. it is a real game. it is not only for 30 minutes where you say "yeah, i'd like to support this indie game with a good review. might be good but not yet or not for me. so i will stop playing. no, this here is a real game with real content. and it is good. read the other reviews if you wanna know more :P

Greatly enjoying the game so far and it feels like there's a decent balance of difficulty. At a certain point you do tend to have your defences 'run away' from the ability of the slimeoids to be a threat, but at the same time you start having to deal with the pain of power restrictions and frankly: you've basically won the map at that point and are only chasing an objective, whether set by yourself or the game. Not something strictly speaking 'needed' to complete the level. Sure, there's times when you can rapidly end up trapping yourself in the early game of a level but frankly that's just one of the risks of both maze builders and deckbuilder roguelikes so it's not a point against the game. It's merely the standard warning of 'Some Level of Thought Required To Play'. Just like I'm certain that the higher levels will have more challenge to deal with as shown by the way the different zones have different map elements you need to take into account (the acidic hot springs can certainly be a hassle for example). This is a Tower Defense Game. All of the craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is made from rocks, stone, slime, and sheer brilliance. Putting that bit aside seriously, this game gets what it is to be a Dwarf, leaving no one behind, mining for ore, technology, and the humor. The humor is just. So good. Card based tower defensing has never been my favorite but it truly works well here, having to not have the perfect defensive setup, hacking together energy costs with mining, defense, and utilities. Some brilliant mechanics at work here. The fact that removing already placed towers being a separate card that only has a chance to show up is a bit frustrating, but legitimately that aside? Its brilliantly put together. The meta progression is a simple as just playing the game more. No need to do some goofy insane stunts, just play the game and play it well and you unlock things. I genuinely hope more people find this game. Its a lovely little thing that is an absolute joy to play.

The mining adds an excellent twist on the standard tower defence mechanics, and there's a great amount of content packed in there for the price point. Now I gotta go, I have a crew to save!
