Invisible Apartment 2

Invisible Apartment 2 is a step up from its prequel. Fans of Visual Novels will be familiar with the way the game plays; largely static character graphics played over background art, click to go through dialogue, and make some story altering choices here and there. My main criticism of Invisible Apartment 1 was how transitions were very abrupt and lacked visual cues to show change in time or setting, in addition to very few player choices (most of which had only one correct answer with the rest various flavors of fail state). There was also some graphical laziness in recycling a HUD visual for a scene that had text elements referencing a previous scene. The good news is, these gripes vanished in IA2. Not only was there ample use of establishing shots to mark scene and setting changes, but the graphics both avoided out-of-place recyling and actually looked quite good. The story had several more choice, and while the overall story followed mostly the same arc, I did feel like the choices had an impact on the way the story played out without it simply being a BAD END/GAME OVER scenario. While I originally backed Invisible Apartment 2 for the Cyberpunk themes, after playing it I discovered a story much deeper than just hacking into a government agency and leaking sensitive information. It’s about people. Who are we? Why do we do what we do? Is there such a thing as free will or are we constantly being controlled by others? Are the masks that we wear to keep us from knowing ourselves or to keep others from seeing the real us? UPDATE: Now that all the Invisible Apartments are available as DLC with the first game, I advise you to buy them there. A science-fiction VN and the sequel to Invisible Apartment, with choices and two endings (one good, one bad). Having loved the first story of this series and Invisible Apartment Zero, I recommend Invisible Apartment 2, but on sale, as I bought it at full price and finished it in 54 minutes (o.o).

Invisible Apartment 2 is slightly better than the first one (and the prequel): the writing got better, the art style too. It didn’t felt rushed like its previous games, and now I could understand better the characters personality. BGM was also really nice, I loved the songs. I’m glad to know that the developers will finish the game soon, since the third and final chapter is already on kickstarter. I’m looking forward to see how it ends! 6/10. I recommend getting this game on a sale, since it’s a quite short VN, with just a few choices. Be sure to play Invisible Apartment Zero too before playing this second chapter.

[b]Invisible Apartment 2[/b] is a short cyberpunk themed [b]Visual Novel[/b] taking place in a mega city, which is completely under surveillance of government & corporations, where hacking is a part of every day life for a lot of people. The story follows events from the first game. It mostly shows life of Kacey and her AI companion, whose interactions show a bit of emotional depth. Their goal is to hack and gain access to highly classified data that’s locked up in Central Authority Network. World build in the game captures pretty well a cyberpunk atmosphere with a constant government surveillance and strong resistance of common people to corporate greed and control. The game might be short, but I don’t find that as an issue. Not every story has to be 30+ hours long. And if you want to get the full experience, there are different paths with dialogue choices that can lead to either good or bad ending. To conclude this short review, I’d say it’s definitely worth a try for people who are into cyberpunk theme in their media. Played the game on YouTube very long time ago. As someone who relly liked the first one I also really liked this one. I think more people whould know about these games.
