Iron Marines Invasion

[/h3] Your experience with [i] Iron Marines: Invasion [/i] depends heavily on what kind of game you expect it to be. If you're looking for [b] “a lightweight, mobile-scale RTS with a distinctive Ironhide style,” [/b] then there's no question that it succeeds. But if you approach it strictly as [b] “a smooth, strategically rigorous RTS designed for PC,” [/b] a number of problems quickly start to show. Judged by the former standard, [i] Invasion [/i] does a lot right. Its worldbuilding is surprisingly rich, the story is complete and well-presented, and it even lays some groundwork for the villains of [i] Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance [/i]. The art direction is polished, the campaign offers plenty of content, there are many units to use, and the hero system is solid. Overall, it's a generous package with fast-paced, satisfying gameplay, and its controls make a lot of sense on mobile. This also leads to an interesting phenomenon: [b] its overall reception on mobile is significantly better than it is on PC [/b]. But judge it by the latter…

The original Iron Marines was phenomenal, Invasion on the other hand, despite being developed as a sequel, is worse in almost every aspect - The graphics is worse (resolution and art style), sound fx is worse (VA and mixing), UI as a whole is way worse (unresponsive with clunky animation). Mission design is downright lazy, not terrible but definitely boring to some extend. The addition of cutscenes is mostly consisted of awkward and low framerate animations, having comics instead would have been much better. Invasion failed as an Ironhide game for which we hold high standards, and alongside the Junkworld game they represented the rock bottom Ironhide Studio. I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't trying to financially support Ironhide. It's such a shame that this game feels really forgettable in comparison

A significant downgrade from the last game

The first game was already unbalanced, especially in higher difficulties, and with this one they took it to the next level. I didn't care a single bit throughout the game about the story and some levels felt the same. Most levels take too much time doing the same thing when you are on "offense" and the "stand your ground" or "defend the relic/egg etc" takes like 10 minutes of the same waves, same enemies, over and over again. Some achievements were straight up frustrating, like the bodyguard one, and the upgrading of heroes was tedious, I didn't grind for the max 2 heroes achievement but I usually max them all (like in KR), not this time though. Yeah I 100% it like all of their games but it wasn't as enjoyable, I saw the reviews but I wanted to support the devs and give it a chance. I won't say I regret buying it but I hope that if there is a sequel coming at some point that it will be better than this. That or KR forever XD
