What Steam players say

Players appreciate Iron Marines Invasion as a continuation of the series with engaging RTS gameplay and solid aesthetics, though many feel it falls short of the original Iron Marines. The main complaints revolve around significant technical issues including unresponsive unit controls, poor targeting systems, frequent AI confusion, and excessive downtime where players watch their units handle battles autonomously, making many missions feel tedious and lacking meaningful player engagement.
I'm sorry Ironhide, but I just cannot in good faith recommend it. It looks great and plays well but it's just so flawed. I could not care less about the story, though maybe that's just me. The Spec Ops are total arse; just total nothing burgers that are a chore to play. Fortunately, they're optional. You spend so many levels just walking from A to B to C and doing basically nothing in between. You're units are usually completely capable of handling themselves without any input from you. Which sounds good on paper, but what ends up happening is you - the player - doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. In game tips are often just incorrect. One says it's "dangerous to move all of your units at once", which is might have been true for the highest difficulty but it almost never made a difference. Another mentions being able to auto-skip cutscenes in the options; also not a thing, or it's hidden away for some reason. The boss fights are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring. They usually take away mechanics like base building so you're just stuck with a couple dudes that are bound to die with extremely slow replacements. They're such a slog. The first major boss fight was good though, I wish they all more like it. I lot o…3 found this helpful

If you like RTS games then this is the game for you. The story continues from Iron Marines. If you have played IR then this is the upgraded version. Not too easy and not too hard when it comes to achievements. You will have a lot of troops that can be transferred between planets. Have fun.1 found this helpful
The first Iron Marines is already pretty flawed, but it managed to be a good game in spite of itself. Iron Marines Invasion is just broken. Units ignore orders for long period before finally following them, melee units just kinda get confused sometimes, it's impossible to intentionally target enemies for no reason sometimes (the final boss is a big offender here), the aggro range on your units is so short they just stand around a lot of the time... The game isn't split into campaigns like the first one, so the bosses are kinda back-loaded, only occurring in the last ten missions or so... There's this one mission where you can only proceed by breaking boxes that are in your way, but you're at the mercy of the broken targeting system to evne do that... I'm sure I could come up with other issues if I wanted, but that's enough for my point. It's a shame, because I love the idea of switching your unit types around, but nothing about the game worked. It's only even beatable because it's so easy that all the broken features don't matter very much. Here's what's amazing: even though they executed on Iron Marines THIS BADLY, I still managed to have some fun here and there. It really goes…
Way worse than the first one. Bad controls, way too boring and repetitive missions and awful balanced. I'm sorry Ironhide but this is staight up garbage compared to your other titles.
a fun game to play i recommend giving it a try, as it is sort of like a easy laid back version of starcraft
