Beat 'em up - game breaking bug - polish = Showed some promise as a different kind of Final Fight style game, but still needs work. Tried to replay a couple of times and it stalled in different areas. Dev, please let me know when it is fixed. 🍣 This is the case when it's impossible not to criticize, although the gameplay may be okay. Obvious low-budget, with simple 3D visual and arcade mechanics, half of which are not finished. ~1h campaign of short 16 levels, plus a simple arena. The plot is almost non-existent, small dialogues are mediocre. The tech. part is sad, there isn't even a key remapping and no v-sync (constant tearing when scrolling). Softlocks are possible, incorrect damage due to inconsistency with animations or waste of a special scale at the moment of knockdown. Bosses are designed for spam on your part, and the tactics of the final one can only be abused (he is the only difficult thing in this game, only because of sponge HP). If, despite all this, you still want to play, choose Neko (she's OP), or at least Kappa. Of course, with such problems, take it only with the max. discount, but honestly, among indie beat 'em ups, there are some that are more lackluster in terms of gameplay / presentation, but with paid advertising from bloggers.

As it’s my favourite genre, I usually try to focus on the positives, and Itadaki Smash is an enjoyable beat ’em up, even if it’s a bit rough around the edges. Developed by Main Loop Games, it clearly aims to capture that classic arcade feel, and there is some fun to be had, especially in short sessions or co-op. However, the collision detection can feel off, enemy designs are a little strange, and it lacks the atmosphere that really pulls you into the action. I’d still recommend it to dedicated fans of the genre who are curious to try something different, but don't set your expectations too high. When you could just pick up Final Fight, Streets of Rage, or one of the endless list of stronger beat ’em ups out there, Itadaki Smash struggles to truly stand out.

Pretty fun COOP Platform on the one hand, and like a mini Mortal Kombat in PVP mode! Says ""controllers not supported"". But it worked perfectly! I was able to do Local Couch COOP with an Xbox Core Controller + an 8BitDo Pro 2.

I can't recommend this game at this price point - if it was 3$ or less it would be a fair game. The game is lacking from all departments: animations, controls, visuals, core mechanics.... It doesn't even have a proper key mapping and controller is not supported. 3/10 at best

Controller inputs only let you move diagonally. Diagonal movement only. They keyboard lets you move like a normal beat 'em up in eight directions...but what monster is aching to play a beat 'em up with the mouse and keys? I've tried off and on for a few years to remedy this but it's super stupid. I would love this game if not for this. Do not buy this game unless you hate yourself.
