Nice game

This game is all about enthusiastically endorsing ecoterrorism against trees because they wronged a granny. I have finally discovered the most noble cause in gaming history. REVENGE. Not against evil wizards. Not against space aliens. Not against ancient gods. TREES. Those oxygen-producing wooden freeloaders with their bark-covered bodies and leafy green hair. Why? Because one of them murdered Jack's granny. That's right. The trees crossed a line. And now we're going to turn the entire forest into premium-grade firewood. Justice has never been so environmentally questionable. The premise is gloriously simple. Trees kill Granny. Jack gets angry. Nature receives a strongly worded axe to the face. 10/10 storytelling. No notes. But don't let the simple setup fool you. This game is secretly a tiny mechanical demon disguised as a cheerful puzzle game. At first it looks easy. Wood flies onto the screen. You pause time. You draw lines through the wood. Wood explodes. Brain receives happy chemicals. Everybody wins. Except the trees. Especially the trees. Then the game starts introducing new mechanics and suddenly your confidence gets thrown into a woodchipper. Some trees need one slice. …

Jack Lumber is basically Fruit Ninja with bullet time and a surprisingly charming backstory about avenging your granny's death at the hands of a sentient tree. The slow-motion mechanic is genuinely clever, and the pun-telling beaver you rescue early on got a real laugh out of me. That said, this is clearly a mobile port and the mouse controls never feel as satisfying as a swipe on a touchscreen would. Some of the later levels where you need precise angled cuts got genuinely maddening, and the hit detection on spinning logs is inconsistent enough to make it worse. Pick it up for under two dollars and it's a fun couple of afternoons; at full price you'll spend most of it wishing you were playing it on your phone.

Enjoyed it, better on touchscreen thou.

Boring

While I personally didn't get into it it's an alright casual game. You versus wood of various sorts.
