Jane Angel 2: Fallen Heaven is, well, it's a hidden object puzzle game that looks like it's either from the 1990's or from a mobile app store... and yet weirdly here it is on Steam amongst actual real PC games. Why? Because Valve will let anything in here so long as they pay their $100. It's from HH-Games who make a living of running cash grabs by dumping free mobile apps on Steam as paid products. Yeah, not cool. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. Sure, they added "curtains" to the pillars... but it still looks like trash from the 1990's. Let me tell you, it's the twenties now. We have our own trash. We don't need trash from other decades messing up the place. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple a…3 found this helpful
This is in many ways superior to the first Jane Angel game: it's a real point-and-click adventure this time, with a lot of interesting locations and puzzles. But, OMG. The writing. The voice acting. It seems that no lessons were learned from the first Jane Angel game. The English translation is so bad it verges on the ridiculous. But even if it were competent, the story itself is like a B-movie written by drunken toddlers who got bored in the middle and took a nap break. THE END. Gameplay is fine. The rest is ... so bad that it's good? Kinda. If you play this genre of games you already have low standards for storytelling. But this one takes the cake. It's also very short.2 found this helpful
I really like this HOG!! Some of the gameplay is "wonky" but still well worth the play1 found this helpful
Recommendation: a magnificently incomprehensible story distracts from a series of fine hidden object puzzles. Critique: I am not in any way overstating the fact that the plot of this game makes absolutely no sense. This isn't your run-of-the-mill nonsense of a hidden object game - it is a genre dominated by silly stories with enormous plot holes and illogical jumps, after all. This far exceeds that normal, baseline level of absurdity. The game can be understood (a little) by using film terms. Throughout the game, you will explore one series of scenes or a sequence at a time. Each sequence might be around a set location: a modern apartment, or a pirate ship, or a dank underground cavern. It's also a bit like rides in an amusement park: one ride might have an underwater theme, while the ride next to it involves a bunch of talking animals. They have nothing to do with one another except that they are neighbors, so you move from one to the next because they're nearby. You don't expect a narrative to connect the two rides, and if you expect a narrative to connect these sequences, you'll be horrified and fascinated, because there is no real narrative. Don't t…
Very disappointed in Jane Angel 2: Fallen Heaven. I managed to get to the Indian cave but unsure what happens from there as it requires finding "34 paleface's things". I finally found 33 of the 34. Increasing gamma to 1.50 helped me find many of the items and then to 2.00. I have no clue what the final item was but found it on the back of the right knee of the standing doll. Opened the chest and found the kite as requested by the Indian chief. The goal became finding a way out of the cave BUT in order to do that I think I need to find the last part of the pistol to shoot the lock on the door. That's when I finally gave up. Although I found the story intriguing it is not intriguing enough to keep me playing! I applaud anyone who finished this game! I will not be one of them. At least I did not waste money on it and since there are no Steam achievements it did not affect my average!
I recommend it solely for the nostalgic Nancy Drew graphics. The story wasn't laid out too great and the puzzles are trivial but I still enjoyed. The ending had me confused because I made a choice and then the game ended soooo... what happened to Jane and Nancy?
