About Kaizen: A Factory Story

The year is 1986 and you are David Sugimoto, born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. Thanks to a family friend, you’re headed to Japan for your very first job at Matsuzawa Manufacturing. Japan’s economy is booming. They’re looking for smart, young, motivated business professionals just like you. You’re going to go get to live that 80s executive life and jet-set around the globe, right?…Right? Initially promised a job with the international sales team, you show up at your new job and it isn’t a shiny office. It’s one of Matsuzawa’s old factories in the outskirts of Tokyo. You’re quickly put to work designing automated production lines. Do you have what it takes to survive as a rookie thrust into the fascinating world of factory automation?
From the creators of Opus Magnum, SpaceChem, and Infinifactory comes Kaizen: A Factory Story — another masterfully engineered game.Weld, rivet, cut, and drill the optimal design and share your solutions to build the simplest, fastest, and sleekest items in your factory. Export animated GIFs to show them off. But wait! There’s more! In case you want to take a break from factory life, you can spend your days playing Pachi-Sol, an exciting new pachinko-themed solitaire game.

I'm still thinking about this game after beating it almost a year ago. I'm excited for the day when enough time has passed that I can play it without remembering any of my previous solutions. Fantastic game.

This game honours the spirit of Kaizen and its beautiful. Kaizen is japanese and literally mean refining your solution into perfection. Getting naturally better. Compared to other games in the genre, especially original Zachtronics, its much simpler. I think thats a good thing. We already have enough brutally difficult programming games. In here we can make it and then make it even better. Kaizen is great. Captures everything that made Zachtronic games really good while keeping its own identiy. The story about moving to 80s Japan is charming. Has an amazing funky soundtrack. Worth your money

I've noped out of every zachtronics game I've tried before, but this one got me. Assembling real world things made it feel much more rewarding and accessible. From what I read it's also just simpler, but it was still a challenge improving scores.

a real visual treat, fun puzzles that aren't painfully hard but have plenty of ways to go back and try to solve them in different ways. if there's one thing i would wish for it would be a custom puzzle system, even though drawing the sprites for it would be a ♥♥♥♥♥. i just KNOW we'd go crazy with it
