King Towers

I'm not that much into tower* games and found out about this one because of the other King Island game, but man, there's lots of fun to be had here! 7 hours in and I can say that it doesn't look or feel like a "simple" flash game. There are a few glitches here and there but it's expected from a game of its age, nothing big though and all the fun is still there. Kudos to the dev for publishing this amazing classic games!

A strange offering, and to be honest I wanted to like it, but it has some problems. For starters, the maps are small and cramped. Tower Defense thrives with a map big enough that tower placement is an issue. This doesn't happen here. The balance of things also seems off. The basic tower costs 50, and does 15 damage. The Ice Tower, for example, costs 250, five times as much, but only does twenty damage? And if it has any special features, they are a mystery, I expected some slowing, didn't see it, and it's not mentioned. In addition if costs another full fifty to upgrade the basic tower, but only ups the damage 5, with minor increases in range and rate of fire. A new tower for the same price seems the better option. The biggest issue I have is that it is a Flash game (?!?) something I haven't seen in ages, and Flash went away because it made your computer vulnerable to malware and other issues. Kind of scary. All in all, I would suggest passing on this offering.

One of the most poorly made and outdated tower defence games. As a big fan of tower defence titles, I was very disappointed with King Towers. Pros: Visually looks average for a flash game. Has multiple difficulty options for more replay value (the caveat being that you're willing to spend a lot of time grinding, which I've explained in the con below). No storyline outside of tutorials before the beginning of each level that are skippable; if you're into games with no story and all gameplay, this aspect might please you. Cons: Highly unbalanced gameplay mechanics. The traps cost as much as the cheapest towers and aren't as useful as the towers, so they are completely unfeasible to use in comparison. As was explained by another reviewer, upgrading towers provides minor upgrades and cost about as much as the cheapest towers, so it is far more efficient to spend gold on putting down more towers than upgrading current ones. On the hardest difficulty, it is impossible to make it past the second level onwards unless you grind experience on the first level, which is really boring. Once you level up, you get skill points which can be allocated to incremental permanent upgrades to tower …

This is a FLASH based game. With SO many other, much better, much newer options, I would not recommend this.

The game doesn't run smoothly and I'm getting error messages. Not really acceptable for a game that looks like this. Asked for a refund.
