Last Resort Island combines match-3 puzzle mechanics with quirky island survival storytelling and various side minigames to create a more varied casual experience than typical genre entries. However, players are divided on its core puzzle design—while some appreciate the colorful presentation and humor, others find the match-3 mechanics frustrating, particularly the system that ignores cascades and combo matches beyond the first move when completing sequential color objectives, which discourages strategic play and creates tedious gameplay. The game delivers exactly what fans of the genre expec
Last Resort Island commits what I consider the cardinal sin of bad match 3 games, in that it largely fails to reward combos and cascades. For example, a significant mechanic is that you need to match different colour combinations in a set sequence to progress a level. So far, so straightforward. In practice, if you need to get a green match before moving onto a red match it will only count your first move of a turn. Literally any matches beyond the first match are completely ignored for the purpose of completing this objective. This means that you spend a lot of time making tediously simple first move three candy combos even when you can see multiple cascades just sitting there waiting to trigger. It's frustrating and it actively conspires against strategic play. Either way, picking a few random match threes in different colours is not especially challenging... or exciting. One of the genuine joys of a good match 3 game is watching all of the cascades of four, five and more matches that you have set up trigger in an avalanche of explosions. In this game, for the vast majority of the time, you get very little credit for cascades at all. Indeed, one of the game mechanics is that…11 found this helpful
Last Resort Island is a colorful and imaginative puzzle adventure developed and published by rokaplay that blends match-3 mechanics with light city-building elements and an eccentric narrative twist. Rather than presenting itself as a straightforward tile-matching game, it layers its puzzles within a whimsical island survival story filled with oddball humor and exaggerated scenarios. The result is a casual yet surprisingly varied experience that manages to feel more expansive than its genre roots might initially suggest. The central gameplay revolves around classic match-3 mechanics: players swap adjacent tiles to form rows or columns of three or more identical pieces, clearing them from the board and progressing toward specific level objectives. However, Last Resort Island avoids stagnation by steadily introducing new mechanics. Some levels require clearing obstructive tiles, collecting specific items, or navigating around blockers that restrict movement. As the campaign unfolds, puzzle layouts grow more complex, demanding thoughtful planning rather than simple reactive matching. Limited moves per level introduce an additional strategic layer, encouraging players to think several…1 found this helpful

Steam is a pile of ♥♥♥♥ when trying to find a game, I searched for match 3 games and all it showed me was hidden object games and games from 2009, I then clicked on stylised and it showed me 3 games wtf, but the next day this popped up on my feed on sale and its a banger just what I was after I f your like me and sick of candy crush badgering microtransactions and prefer games similar to royal match to get then this is one. calming soundtrack.
Build and protect your "last resort" island from a mindless outbreak caused by contaminated tofu, and fight them off with a sugar rush diet that will put any healthy person into a diabetic coma! This hilarious and enjoyable match 3 survival game is full of side quest mini-games like solitaire, sliding puzzles and hidden objects to satisfy the growing demands of entitled survivors, as you embark on your sacred mission to escape the island from drooling, cannibalistic vegans.
Not a fan of match-3 games so I'm not sure why I even have this. They're all the same game with a different themed jacket that is nothing to do with gameplay at all. It's not my vibe but it is what is says on the tin so guess I have to give it some points. 1/10
