You are a lowly peasant that has only known the simple life since the day of your birth.
Day to day life has largely stayed the same, until one day a Dark Lord invaded your small
village. Rumors are, that other villages, and towns have been attacked by Dark Lords as well.
Now, a plague of darkness is spreading across the land. Monstrous creatures maim,

Players are divided on this retro 2D platformer. Supporters praise its challenging gameplay, solid music, and atmospheric design, with good controller support and accessibility options, though they acknowledge the high difficulty may turn away casual players. Critics dismiss it as a generic, uninspired entry in an oversaturated platformer genre that lacks innovation, polish, and aesthetic appeal compared to similar titles like Celeste.
Simple, aggravating, unpolished, WIP. Go buy Celeste.5 found this helpful
Lord of sh!te
What a monotonous game about a farmer that walks around jumping on things and avoiding things. This game falls into the wanna-be-meatboy category for me. And this game can´t even brag about the aesthetics or music. It´s just your standard 2D platformer with spikes and retro-sounding music. You´ve played this game before on newgrounds.com, you´ve played it a million times over! It brings nothing special to the table and offers nothing new that you haven´t seen before.
verdict
If somebody gave me the choice to either kill a cute koala bear or play this game again AND get paid for it....I´d kill the koala bear.4 found this helpful
I had a lot of fun with the game... for both the challenge and the atmosphere. Loved the music! Very challenging, especially for casual players such as myself. I noted that this may be a con for the game, due to certain parts being very challenging. The look and feel of the game is fantastic! Major points for the controller compatibility and game sound volume control, which more than a few Indie games have been lacking. I did a live review of the game, and presented my thoughts and reactions in real time (up through the first boss): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEqrqOLvroo4 found this helpful
Lords of Strife is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. There's a weird slightly eastern farmer theme, it's unclear who thought that was the concept that would revitalize the dead and completely overdone obsolete platformer genre. Based on the utterly flat reception the game had, nobody. There's some slashing and you can double jump, but only when you do your first jump from a scarecrow... yeah, me neither. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre …3 found this helpful

Lords of Strife is a challenging platforming game focused around unique jumping mechanics. TL;DR at bottom Gameplay: Lords of Strife is a simple 2D platformer where you must bounce on enemies and other objects in the environment to pass obstacles and progress. The primary mechanic is your ability to jump off of objects and enemies, allowing you to increase the distance you reach to overcome the challenges you are faced with. Some levels are simple or others are much more difficult. The levels progressively increase in difficulty as you play, and it eventually leads to a boss fight that pertains to that level. New types of enemies and obstacles are introduced as you progress, keeping gameplay fresh and challenging. Some parts of the levels are exponentially more difficult than other parts. For example, I was stuck on a single section for over half an hour. After finally finishing it, it was only a short time before I reached another part of the level that I could not pass. This game is advertised as a hardcore platformer, and that is no understatement. 7/10 Graphics: Lords of Strife is a beautiful 2D game with a well-designed pixel art style. The levels a…1 found this helpful
