About Orpheus

My first solo indie game i started to work during my studying


Two Soulmates separated by death. In this game, you play as Orpheus from the greek myth. Travel through Hell and prove your strenght by defeating all ennemies and obstacles with the power of your lyre.

Orpheus is a first solo project i published on STEAM, started in 2022 for art license, i continue to develop it. In this game you play as Orpheus who go to hell for save Eurydice in a gameplay who mixed bullet hell and platformer.

- use your lyre to fight ennemies and make bounce to eliminate them

- inventory with multiple items given by gods

- 3 levels of difficulty (Assist, Normal and God Mode)

- Direction Key/QSDZ/Joystick - Move

- UP key/Z/Joystick - Jump

"Orpheus" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a very poorly made 2D retro platformer with bullet hell elements that mangles a bit of tortured Greek mythology into some kind of backstory for the really badly done platforming experience this offers. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The developers abandoned this 3 months ago. It's deep in development hell and is unlikely to ever be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. Since the controls can't be customized, this makes the game inaccessible for a wide range of gamers, including those who are left-handed, have physical impairments, or use international keyboard layouts.
