Lost Eidolons

I would describe this game as the unbuttered, plain white bread version of Fire Emblem. It plays almost 1-1 like three houses but without a significant amount of the polish and style. Now don't get it twisted, it PLAYS fine and I could even see myself liking it if it weren't for the other issue. I think the thing that really puts me off is this clash between the very realistic, traditional western artystyle and the very anime/cartoonish dialogue. The voice acting for the main protagonist is especially hammed up, he sounds like he's trying to voice a plucky 14yr old shonen protagonist from a forgotten 2008 anime. Between that and the lifeless facial animations I just couldn't do it. I didn't give it too much of my time but that is only because I could sense a 5/10 game then saw in the forums the story is 50 hours. If you are completely and utterly desperate to scratch the Fire Emblem itch in an objectively inferior package, grab it on sale maybe? Idk.

First of all: It is a great game and worth the price and time. Despite that, I understand some of the negative comments. Lost Eidolons feels quite linear with its story and fights, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad — it just has to be your thing. There are only two things I definitely miss: 1. deeper relationships between the characters and 2. more diversity in fights (mainly conquering a fortress feels repetitive). FAZIT: Considering all that, it is a good game, like I said. Without spoiling too much: the overall design is great, especially with the medieval theme. You can definitely follow the story and won’t get lost. There are several great characters with understandable fates. Just keep in mind: Lost Eidolons misses some depths what makes it somewhat predictable, AND MOST IMPORTANT: IT IS NOT A 60–70€ GAME!! So of course it doesn’t reach the quality of, for example, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. And let's be honest it's on discount most of the time anyways which makes it even more worth buying.

I finished the game and endured the hot garbage writing. Honestly, up until about chapter 12, I thought it would start getting better, but after chapter 17, it just got worse. The writing is barely better than that of an average teenager. Balastar could have been a great antagonist, but here he is constantly in roid rage, has clearly overdone it with 2000mg of juice daily, and keeps doing nonsensical things. I really kept hoping it would improve, but my main gripe with the game is that the narrative designer should put down the pen and go on a pilgrimage. You’re better off reading some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "romantasy" you'll get a better story out of it. That aside, the game had its fun moments; the turn-based combat is good, and I like the graphics and effects. The third-person camp could have been utilized much more. The third-person camp, party management, and turn-based combat with cool attacks were what kept me going. Overall, I’m leaving a positive review, though just barely, hoping they improve this formula and the relationships with the party members even further and think more about how a good story can make even the roughest parts shine. I didn't play it for very long but I could tell that the story was going to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This game is jank. But in the way it makes me feel like a kid in the early 2000s buying some random computer game at the store and finding it its actually really fun. The story is terrible, it looks very rough, but underneath that is a fairly solid game thats fun to play.
