About Love and Guillotines
Love and Guillotines is a visual novel dating sim which allows the player to romance prominent figures of the French Revolution. Experience your first day at "Vive La University" as you navigate the ins-and-outs of the schools prominent "Political Society Club". Will the president of the club, Max, catch your eye? Or maybe the young playwright, Oly? The choice is yours in this work of historical fiction and romance.
During the beginning of the pandemic I was reading a book titled "Twelve Who Ruled" by RR Palmer. The book is about the Committee of Public Safety and it's members during the period known as the "Year of Terror" in France. It's a great book, very informative. I highly recommend it if you're into that period of history. But there was something I just couldn't shake...

This game is so good that it saved my life. I love French people. Please add more Napoleon and I will e-transfer 5 dollars to you and ill add in a 2 dollar tip for a kissing scene. And another 2 for a pregnancy scare (since what was he doing w those seeds? ;). Have an amazing day and keep working on this masterpiece! 10/10!4 found this helpful
You can throw every other game about the French revolution right in the trash! This is the only one to ever do justice to the complexity, drama, and historical significance of the period and no other game will ever come close to this sublime creation. While we are so often plagued with reactionary caricatures of these auguste personages, this game depicts each historical figure with nuance and dignity, despite the short length of the game. The creators of this game have an understanding of these individuals that rivals the most prestigious historians. 10/10 extremely virtuous, would recommend.1 found this helpful

Very educational and insightful experience. Especially enjoyed the interactions with Jean-Paul Marat and his would-be-murderer, Charlotte Corday. Very amusing. Inclusion of lesser-studied individuals from the French revolution was good for immersion, as I had not previously known their personalities or traits. One qualm I have with the selection of figures is that Georges Danton was left out, as it would have provided some INSANE love triangle toxic yaoi between him, the main character and Max. "See how the blood of Danton chokes him!" ; riveting.
