Loveland's Leap

Loveland's Leap is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer might be a student project or something, I don't know. It was an objective failure, with primitive graphics, lacklustre gameplay and poor level design. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DL…

This is easily the best game I've ever played where I get my doordash order stolen by a witch who turns me into a frog who tricks me into kissing a princess who is not a princess. Lovely music--the kalimba was perfect. Everything runs smoothly and the sprites and background art are charming and well-suited to the game. The "live frog reaction" setting got a good laugh out of me. It was fun. I want to speedrun it and lo and behold, there's a speedrun setting right in there. I love Loveland's Leap.

10/10 would eat flies again

Cute little platformer game with a fun mechanic! I liked the different kinds of challenges the game presented me, although I feel that the story was kind of non-existent and the graphics barebone. That's alright, though, because getting to max flies kept me going!

The backgrounds astounded me and when ever the fog ate a fly it made the same sound that i would if I ate a fly. good job!
