About Lunar Odyssey

Built in Unreal Engine 5, Lunar Odyssey is an immersive first-person VR celestial experience, depicting details of the Apollo Missions and the Lunar Lander, the moon surface and Apollo-era technology with impressive accuracy. Lunar Odyssey early access offers the player both a mission-based mode (Escape) and free-roam.

ESCAPE
In Escape, during a modern day mission, the player is stranded on the Lunar surface after an incident and must utilize Apollo-era technology to Escape. Follow exacting launch procedures used by astronauts on the Apollo Missions to successfully launch the LM before your oxygen runs out.

EXPLORE
In Free Roam, the player is free to explore the lunar surface near the Orontius Crater which has been faithfully recreated from NASA scans. The player will also be able to interact with a variety of experiments and hardware from Apollo-era Lunar missions.

SPACE GOLF
Space Golf is a fun mini-game included in the Free-Roam mode. Hit the targets at various distances to earn points! Whether you're competing for the high-score (currently 441 by one of our QA team members), or just having a relaxing golf session, Space Golf is a great time!

NOTE: This game is built in Unreal Engine 5, which itself is still in Beta.

Lunar Odyssey is an Early Access Free to play VR simulation game of the Apollo moon lander on the moon. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You have to work a lot of detailed controls to make it off the moon. The instructions will tell you what to do. Takes some hand eye coordination. There is a sandbox mode. Has a golf range on the moon. You can also drive the moon buggy. Has some factoids about the equipment there. This was a paid product at one point, now it is free. This game was built in Unreal Engine 5. CONS: - The instructions of what to do are in a small font, which was hard to read, between my bad eyes and the lens on the Vive. - The textures with text in the inside of the lunar module is lower res, had to move head closer to read. Try this free game, if you wanna know what it was like to be an Apollo astronaut on the moon.

"Lunar Odyssey" is an abandoned Early Access "VR Experience"... meaning it's very light on gameplay and more of a tech demo than anything else. This VR experience puts you on an admittedly very nice looking Lunar excursion, except the developers didn't bother finishing this, so all you really do is some tedious activity and that's about it. Despite being a VR exclusive game, the developers didn't bother testing it with any VR headsets so it doesn't work very well, if at all, depending on your hardware. The developers abandoned this 2 years and 8 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... i…

Cute little free VR game. You get to explore the lunar lander and walk around on the surface of the Moon. Then there's the launch procedure, which you get to do in an apparently realistic way. A lot of entering values into the machine. So in the end, it's decent entertainment for 30-60 minutes.
