Moon Landing VR

[h1] Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers [/h1] [i] Note for Oculus users: HTC Vive wands show up as Touch controllers, but they basically work the same here [/i] I don't like downvoting free educational apps on Steam. However, this is a rather poor effort. Some of the translations are rough, but that's not even a reason I'm not recommending this. This just doesn't bring anything to VR, even at free, that I can recommend this to anyone. The graphics are not there. You don't feel like you're in space or that you're viewing planets. I would be more impressed looking at one of those scale models that middle school students make for their science project. There's not many facts contained within the different models and they are just text anyway. Navigating the UI is clunky as well as teleporting around in space. I would recommend spending some money and either getting Discovering Space 2, Overview, or Titans of Space 2 (or Mission:ISS for free!). Better to have a good space experience than waste time on this free one. Rate 4.5/10. I really didn't want to not recommend this game, but it's just not really good at all, brings very little of value. Time is valuable.

Moon Landing VR is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, Moon Landing VR is a software application that This is a rather badly made "educational" software application where you... well.. don't land on the moon. You just look around at a very mediocre 3D VR representation of the solar system. That's it... just look at stuff. No gameplay. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot …

Moon Landing VR is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. I didn't see any moon landing or Earth satellite content. The title of this program is misleading. This have a great scale model of the solar system that you can explore. The constellations are named in Chinese text still. Try this, if you like astronomy.
