RPG Maker strikes again! Lycah is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. This time Andorlea/Warfare/SimProse/whatever other shell account this guy uses to try hide his identity has once more stamped out a painfully generic copy + paste RPG Maker asset flip. There's a dark ages religious conflict theme, but of course it's garbage, badly written and obviously done over the space of a weekend or less. It's horribly basic, riddled with grammatical an…3 found this helpful
Lycah started with a dark premise that hearkened back to similar days of the Roman Empire Crusades and the forced conversion of the native peoples in the areas they overtook. The game on top of this also adds in some fantasy paranormal lore through fantasy creatures and demons. What the game does not do however is explain. The game starts out with you the player playing as Lycah being treated as an exile in her village. The crusade then comes to overtake the village and cuts out to lycah challenging the general. After this cut out that seemed like it would be a boss battle you instead find yourself on what seems to be a castle balcony talking to the very general you challenged that was there to overtake your village. You would imagine in these circumstances Lycah would hold some animosity towards this individual and yet throughout the story Lycah fails to show any indication of animosity (except against the religion) or sympathy for others. After a short adventure with no guidance around a castle area you are to find the leader behind the crusades and get your next mission. Lycah for some reason works for this man now but good luck figuring out why as it's never explained much li…3 found this helpful
I want trevor to carry me off this godforsaken earth into the heavens of his big beefcake arms. trevor is the one and only rude man that will be mine one day. I loved the moment where I equiped trevor with all items and then he left. 10/10 marriage simulator2 found this helpful
Not for me, but seems alright.
Weird that it's been three years since I played this, feels like it was yesterday. Eh...anyway, Lycah was a dark game. I think it felt a bit buggy. But I didn't refund it and I was interested in other games by this developer, so I'll give it a thumbs up for now.
Very much recommending it, at least from what I've seen so far. Great (if lightweight) story, and a beautiful atmosphere, overall. - Sure, a "fan game", but definitely a gem in my collection from now on. One of the best gaming moments in a long while.
