What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise Magic Potion Millionaire as a charming, relaxing grinding game with excellent pixel art, tight controls, and a great soundtrack that keeps the experience engaging over long play sessions. The main complaint is that the game is quite grindy and starts slowly, with some players noting minor issues like basic enemy AI and occasional genre mislabeling, though most agree it's well-suited for players who enjoy collectathons and idle progression mechanics.

Simple control and system, various passive powerups. Great pixelart. this game is rather fun, although it can be a bit grindy. the varied environments and the powerful soundtrack keep the game interesting throughout the entire experience. i'm looking forward to the next game in this series.3 found this helpful
The game starts a bit slow and you need to put some time into opening new mechanics, but "Magic Potion Millionaire" is great if you're currently up for relaxed grinding.2 found this helpful
I was pleasantly surprised by this game, which was made by only one person. In my eyes, it's a bit like a Maplestory-lite, with an idle game thrown in there about halfway through. It's very grindy, so it's definitely a game for a specific niche, but it's fun and avoids the trappings of "roguelikes", which it somewhat inaccurately describes itself as. Genre nitpicking aside, it's a fantastic game with tight controls, great sound & music, and a charming atmosphere. Give it a try if you like collectathons/grinding games.1 found this helpful
What a wonderful game. It stays rewarding and compelling for a long time, right up to the end. I love traversing the randomized areas, with their different looks, and different enemies populating them. I want to applaud in particular the unusual feature that bosses just inhabit the level they're on, with no special boss room phases. If you don't feel you can beat the boss, you can just sneak to the exit, and the only penalty is missing out on the reward for beating the boss. Your progress isn't blocked. Two nitpicks 1. No enemy has intelligent pathfinding. The closest thing is bee swarms that fly towards you, but can't fly AROUND anything, even if it would be easy. And there are enemies that shoot at you, or behave differently based on your location. But on the whole one gets the sense that enemies are almost like environmental hazards more than intelligent denizens of the environments. 2. Eventually you can create resources back at home, turning the game into a bit of an idler, and this somewhat dampens the satisfaction of going into dungeons to get resources, as originally that's the only way to get them. Late game, what's important is just to get through new dungeon floo…
These games always have great music. Also, highly recommend playing with a controller. It's perfectly playable with a kb, but controller is much better.
