About Magna Graecia

Magna Graecia is a relaxing puzzle game with city-building elements designed in Ancient Greek. Expand your village by placing houses and gaining new tiles. Place your buildings and resources strategically and receive adjacency bonuses. Upgrade them by forming triangles to get better yields. And finally, collect olives and grapes to unlock even more houses.

Expand your village, receive adjacency bonuses and form triangles

Each turn you get a random building or resource — from an olive farm to a wheat field. A house adds all neighboring tiles to your village. You receive bonuses when buildings of the same type are adjacent to each other — build clusters to get a high score. You can upgrade your buildings and resources by forming triangles out of 3 objects of the same type, where each is adjacent to the other two. The higher the level, the higher the yields!

Collect olives and grapes to unlock even more houses

There are 2 resources in Magna Graecia — olives and grapes. In exchange for them, you can get additional houses and continue expanding the village. Olive and grape fields produce these resources, while farms collect them. To obtain olives and grapes, you need to place farms and fields together. Each adjacency will give you 1 olive / grape. The higher the level of your farms and fields, the more resources you get!

Game mechanics are inspired by Dorfromantik and Triple Town.
Graphic design is inspired by Islanders and Kingdoms and Castles.

For such a simple game, disappointing glitches abound, including buildings/fields that level up but retain the lower-level items in place around them, destroying attempts at strategic planning. From time to time the game also fails to recognize there are no valid moves (empty spaces) remaining, forcing a quit and leaving no score. I cannot recommend until and unless the glitches are addressed.

English + Deutsch This game looks so nice but it's sooo boooring. There has still nothing changed to tell easier which kind of house is which because they all look too similar with hardly any difference. Also, still the rules are in English which I find confusing to understand. I just tried again after months of a break but after just 3 mins, I quit the game again after having placed just a few tiles. As long as it stays like this without any improvements, I won't play it again. If you want to play a real good, beautiful, varied and much better game of this kind, you should rather play Dorfromantik than Magna Graecia.

Love this style of game and I know this is in early access, but it feels very unfinished. It needs more to the scoring system, and the overall advancements. If you can manage to get further than a few upgrades, kudos to you, but the mechanics of it can be a little disappointing. Will look at it again, once/if it comes to full access.

Despite its current limitations, I really like this game. I hope that it will continue to be developed as I think it has a lot of potential. I've spent almost 30 hours playing it, because it's quite relaxing and fun. The music and graphics are really nice. I do get frustrated at times when it's 'buggy' (i.e., the buildings don't combine when they should, or the game doesn't end when there are no tiles left). As others have mentioned, it would be helpful if the different buildings (i.e., olive farm, grape farm, etc.) were more distinguishable from each other. It's not such a big deal when the map is still small, but when it's large, its easy to make a mistake and misplace a building.

Game has a lot of bugs and limited play. I saw there was early access a year ago so I thought it would be worth checking out, but it is a rip off for $8. Would only be worth checking out if it was free.
