MapleStory resonates with long-time players who appreciate its timeless core gameplay and nostalgic appeal, though opinions vary widely on its current state. Common complaints include pervasive bugs, heavy RNG-dependent progression, poor class balancing, aggressive monetization (particularly required purchases like VAC pets), inadequate player support, and frustration with publisher decisions like refusing a universal cash shop. Despite these issues, some players find the game enjoyable enough to recommend, particularly those drawn to its established community and familiar mechanics, though th
False banned me years ago, came back on a new account 2 years ago to play with friends. - Game is riddled with bugs - This patch started off with core functionality being broken, like Starforcing. - Ton of legacy items. - Game is heavily RNG-focused. The only way you'll progress in this game is if you're lucky. - Class balancing is horrible. - GMS exclusive features are a massive chore. - Lack of shared cash shop. - Paid (NX) event buffs ends earlier than advertised, no refunds. Just a shared compensation that's given to everyone, even if they didn't spend. - Game is riddle with service buyers / bots. - Community managers are just scapegoats for management. - Boss loot room crash is still common. If it happens, support will tell you you're out of luck. - Player support just responds in templates. Had issues recently with paid (NX) items and Nexon Support basically told me to get bent. Game is promising, but the team behind it ruins the whole experience, especially the support staff. If anything goes wrong in this game, you're ♥♥♥♥ out of luck.1 found this helpful
nexon hates their playerbase, I really tried giving them the benefit of the doubt but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. E.X, they refuse to add universal cash shop.1 found this helpful
This is one of those games you come back to after 10 years only to realize it's still the same game you fell in love with, just bigger. Sure, MapleStory has added countless systems, classes, progression mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements over the years. But beneath all of that, the core gameplay loop is unchanged, and that's exactly why it has endured. It never lost its identity. Few MMORPGs can say they've remained relevant for over two decades while still feeling unmistakably like themselves. MapleStory isn't perfect, but it's one of the few games that can genuinely be called timeless. Playing it again instantly took me back to being 14 or 15, spending weekends at my friend's house grinding levels on his computer after scamming people on Gaia Online. Those memories hit harder than any nostalgia trip has a right to. Some games age. MapleStory just keeps growing.1 found this helpful
If we ignore the fact that it is not really trully F2P,(because everything aside, you really wanna have VAC pet. and thats basically paying 70 dollar for first time. 3 months later, monthly 10 dollars per month) I really like the game. I played elsword before and i was really liking that game alot. however due to some p2w events i left it. Now i started maplestory, and really like the feeling of it. only reason i paid that much for the game is i enjoyed it honestly. Now maplestory classic world is on the way. but tbh i like the fast paced gameplay. and since i didnt play maplestory in the past, i wont look for nostalgia either. so i will stick with maplestory. I really recommend people to try it out. if you enjoy it, you might think about buying things like VAC pet or whatever you think it worthes. if you dont like, you would just quit, no problem. but if you like it, and no matter what dont wanna spend for it, you will suffer!
not boring, but really ♥♥♥♥.
Probably the best of it genre!
