What Steam players say

Players praise Mass Effect as a timeless classic with engaging storytelling, compelling crew relationships that carry across the trilogy, and an immersive galactic world with good atmosphere and balanced difficulty. Common complaints include dated graphics with occasional bugs, sparse world exploration, and frustration with the Mako vehicle controls, though some players found it more manageable than expected.
Played and finished the game for the first time ever and it still holds up extremely well after all these years. Had a great time with it, minus a major graphical bug in two locations where all the character models turn into black blocks. The world exploration is very barren tho. Controlling the Mako wasn’t as bad as i thought after years of seeing people say it was a nightmare to control. Had a very easy time playing thru the entire game on KB/M. A genuine classic and I can’t wait to keep continuing thru the rest of the series. 9/101 found this helpful
An awesome game where you get explore this amazing galaxy while forming real bonds and attachments with the crew. The game is an amazing opening to this Trilogy I fully recommend you to play it. This game is a bit dated but I assure you that that is not really something you feel while playing. The reason for this is mainly that this game is not about a perfectly crafted story or the best gameplay its about getting to know this universe and experience deep connections with the crew that you get to know over the course of the game. The game features friendships, greif, romance and what really sells it is that it continues across multiple games. This isn't just a story you follow this is you'r story! There are a few bugs that have come overtime but normally nothing serious. I do recommend getting Mass Effect Legendary Edition as it remains mainly the same but with alot of bug fixes and improvements, you also get ME1, ME2 and ME3 so definetly a worthy purchase but it is also on sales from time to time so watch out for those!
A bit old and full of glitches, voice actin gcould also be better, that being said so far I've thouroughly enjoyed this game. It's a great blend of star trek world building with Space Odyssey lore, the gameplay is fun, it's difficult enough to be fun without it being infuriating and really feels like a whole movie of it's own if it was playable. I definitly see how this has become a classic.
Great game, great lore, great atmosphere.
Good story and game play
I love this game but ♥♥♥♥ MAKO man.
