What Steam players say

Bioshock is widely praised as a classic shooter with an immersive world, compelling story, and thematic depth that holds up remarkably well, earning strong appreciation from players for its creativity and influence. However, players note some technical issues including audio cutoff during intense combat, visual settings that need adjustment to avoid discomfort, and the requirement of the 2K launcher, while some find the combat difficulty against certain enemies like Big Daddies to be punishing.

This game will always hold a special place in my heart. Without it i wouldn't be where i am in my creative pursuits and taste in media. And i can't thank it enough.1 found this helpful
Unfortunately uses the 2K launcher, but other than that the game is an all time classic. Revisiting it as an adult it's a lot deeper than I remember, and still extremely fun.
Truly Bioshock is one of the best shooters out there,. The story and world are immaculate, I personally really enjoyed the ending I got, and I feel like it's a great throughline for all the themes in the game. I think this game really holds up and is still really fun, and really mezmerizing to play. A few notes, I played the original PC version, and while I really enjoyed the visuals there were some definite audio problems, mostly once the game gets loud during fights lots of sounds cut out for no reason. You also have to make sure to uncheck "horizontal fov lock" in the settings so the game won't have the harshest POV you've ever seen, I started getting sick. I honestly think it's worth trying the remaster if you have the option and seeing how well it plays. I just am a sucker for that nostalgic older engine and how it feels. Must play, get it.
Truly a great game, most of the time I have absolutely zero idea of what is happening infront of me so I just started mag dumping on splicers and Big Daddies. Speaking of big daddies, I have to cause 9/11 levels of destruction just to get them to half health
