About BioShock™

✦ AI summary

Blast through an underwater art deco dystopia armed with guns, genetic superpowers called plasmids, and the environment itself as your arsenal. Every encounter plays out differently based on how you combine abilities, weapons, and tactics, letting you approach each challenge your own way.

BioShock is a shooter unlike any you've ever played, loaded with weapons and tactics never seen. You'll have a complete arsenal at your disposal from simple revolvers to grenade launchers and chemical throwers, but you'll also be forced to genetically modify your DNA to create an even more deadly weapon: you. Injectable plasmids give you super human powers: blast electrical currents into water to electrocute multiple enemies, or freeze them solid and obliterate them with the swing of a wrench.
No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way.
  • Biologically modify your body: send fire storming from your fingertips and unleash a swarm of killer hornets hatched from the veins in your arms.
  • Hack devices and systems, upgrade your weapons and craft new ammo variants.
  • Turn everything into a weapon: the environment, your body, fire and water, and even your worst enemies.
  • Explore an incredible and unique art deco world hidden deep under the ocean.

✦ AI summary

Bioshock is widely praised as a classic shooter with an immersive world, compelling story, and thematic depth that holds up remarkably well, earning strong appreciation from players for its creativity and influence. However, players note some technical issues including audio cutoff during intense combat, visual settings that need adjustment to avoid discomfort, and the requirement of the 2K launcher, while some find the combat difficulty against certain enemies like Big Daddies to be punishing.

Absolutely phenomenal. its a shame the original version doesnt have achievements on steam, but i may come back and play the remaster for the achievements in the future. Really fun gameplay, runs a little rough on a modern mid-power linux setup mainly some stuttering and frame drops with the physics, but it did not detract from the gameplay.

Bioshock -A badass classic game, it’s just a damn shame it’s totally on the verge of extinction, where the policy of unequal treatment is ruthless to the player's wallet and where one studio gets the budget and the time, while another is mercilessly liquidated over a single stumbled project. Of course, the proportionality of satisfaction for the end player --who bankrolls this corporate 'ABC' bourgeoisie --creates a terribly toxic atmosphere across the entire industry, from A to Z. This phenomenon of a 'corporate lottery' causing a full --blown 3D demoralization makes you lose any desire for any potential investment in 3D.Fear kills creativity. When creators see an iconic studio like Arkane Austin wiped off the map despite delivering earlier brilliant games (Prey, Dishonored, The Outer Worlds, Avowed, Deathloop, or even Doom: The Dark Slop)- I still loved Bethesdas work and the sense of security vanishes in other studios too (like Obsidian or Arkane Lyon). Developers begin to calculate instead of taking risks, instead of dreaming, hallucinating, and creating a unique artistic style and intricate mechanics; they prefer to play it safe and make repetitive things because they know th…

Fun critique of randian philosophy with a setting that never gets old and some very fun and unique combat. Hacking is a bore but you get the resources to skip it by the halfway point so eh. Good game but play the remaster because this version crashed several times and while it was never a major issue it was an annoyance.
