About Mazes and Mages 2
In Mazes and Mages 2 you have to find your way in random mazes and play card duels against enemies.
You create a random maze, choosing a rank, difficulty, and mode (casual or hardcore) for it. Each randomly generated maze has 5 levels.
By defeating enemies and picking up chests you get cards and items, which you use to make your deck stronger.
When you defeat the boss at the end of the maze, the next rank becomes available, with stronger cards and items. There are 20 ranks.

Mazes and Mages 2 is a 2D top down retro pixel hybrid of CCG/deckbuilder and roguelike RPG. Explore a randomly generated dungeon and fight creatures. Combat consists of a simplified style of Magic The Gathering monster summoning, where you lay out your creature cards, use their abilities, then the creatures fight (power vs hitpoints both ways). There are some very clever ideas here that give this game a lot more depth than so many of the asset flips and game construction kit copy + pastes you see on Steam. The game was made genuinely and it comes across that way. Unfortunately there are a plethora of issues here. While the initial concept of the game is good, it becomes repetitive and bottoms out quickly. The retro pixel "art" is quite poor, and also repetitive. The developer chose to try use procgen as a substitute for adding crafted level design and story progression to the game, so the game doesn't really have any content worth mentioning. The game uses a Comic Sans style font which is completely terrible and should not be used by anyone, ever. Interesting AI generated Dungeon Crawler. The layout, card design and simple UI makes it easy to get into. Fights are a back and forth of leveraging your skills against the opponent's making it better much more interesting than a simple numbers game. Treasure chests and items make exploring more rewarding. The decks of every enemy I faced were properly designed and had their own feel. It's biggest weaknesses are the fact that it's procedurally generated, making for levels without much of note in many cases. A soundtrack would be nice but playing your own background music is easy enough. A proper campaign would make this game a high recommendation for me. 6.5/10
