This is a short (around an hour) point and click hidden object game. It is based loosely on the life of Vincent Van Gogh and his artistic style in 5 short chapters. Each chapter begins with a vignette of Van Gogh's life and where he travelled. That is all the 'story' you get. Gameplay is mainly clicking on arrows on the border of the pages. You find Van Gogh and his voice bubble tells you what objects he wants you to find. These directives are very repetitive. He is accompanied by his faithful cat Star who might also give you some side quests to fulfil. Each chapter has about 6 to 8 paintings to scour. This game is a feast for the eyes with bright colourful scenes reminiscent of Van Gogh's artistic style. The devs have stated that they are partially AI generated and it shows. However I loved them!!! The hint is a light bulb in the top right hand corner of your screen. If it is not there, you know you have found all the items on that page. There is no pointing to where an item is. The downside that the other review has also pointed out is that there is no zoom feature. Items tend to blend in well with the background and smaller items like paintbrushes are particularly di…21 found this helpful
Hidden Objective game, pastime, hidden objects, cartoon style, full of colors. Nice idea to combine a hidden object game with art. The aim is not only to have fun, but to briefly know the life of an artist who lived in the artistic and cultural period of 1800. The graphics are wonderful, it seems like being inside Van Gogh's paintings, you can see the places he frequented: the wheat fields of Arles, the church of Saint Remy, the Monastery, the laboratory and more... In the style that he would surely have painted like this. Like many other games, there is the help of the AI, but you can also notice the accuracy of a character design team that worked by hand to make each location unique and special. The gameplay of the 5 chapters is simple, the objects are clearly visible and for this reason it is suitable for everyone, even the little ones, surely the children will have fun collaborating with the cat "Stella" In the Options it is possible to put or remove the "Object Suggestions" it will not give us a direct solution, but a light bulb in the top right will indicate that in that location there are objects to find. The soundtrack made up of different songs is suitable for the th…14 found this helpful
This casual title sticks closely to genre conventions: there's no time limit, no penalties for errant clicks, and plenty of clicking around scenic environments. The difference is that you can move around scenes, which makes it similar to a point-and-click adventure. The game spans five short chapters, each offering several small but beautifully rendered locations that pay homage to Van Gogh’s distinctive painting style. While the use of AI-generated art is evident, the visual aesthetic still manages to charm with its swirling brushwork and rich palettes. Navigation is simple; just click on arrows to move between areas. And you’ll never get lost, as each chapters contains only a few scenes. Each chapter offers a brief glimpse into the life of Van Gogh, paired with a hidden object quest. Your goal is to help the artist by collecting items he needs, though don’t expect much guidance. Clicking on Van Gogh’s speech bubble will trigger your current objective (and a handful of repetitive lines), but you can only gather the needed items once that objective is active. This means you will see objects scattered around before they’re collectible. Gameplay consists of searching for multiple …7 found this helpful
(Review copied from the Munch game) I bought the collection of three games, and tried this one and the Munch title. I didn't play Newton as I figured it would have the same issues. The games are beautiful - the Van Gogh title especially has gorgeous vibrant colours in the various scenes. Unfortunately both the games I played had the same issue. They start out well enough, but very soon the items to search for become extremely difficult to find as they can be very small and blend into the background too much. As others have said, there is no real hint system - just a lightbulb to tell you there's still something to be found in that scene. There is no way to get help with actually finding the objects, and no way to skip the hunt and move on with the story. Maybe it's just my poor eyesight, but for me these games are too frustrating as I really can't find the things I need! Sadly I had to request a refund for the bundle, and can't recommend it due to the inability to skip or get proper help.4 found this helpful
They're fine, but they get lazier and more boring with each new title. Also, the same UI bugs present in the first game are still here in the third, so there doesn't seem to be a lot of attention paid to such things. They're not bad for the price, but you're not going to get a lot of entertainment value out of it.3 found this helpful
rating: 8/10 a beautiful, cozy game that you can fully complete in about an hour. :)
