About Midnight Manor

Midnight Manor follows the story of a man down on his luck, who happens to find himself at the doorstep of a luxurious manor as a terrible storm surges outside. Greeted by a generous, but lonely, old man - he's offered shelter in exchange for completing some simple tasks during his stay.

So... enter the Midnight Manor. Explore its winding hallways. Fulfill your piece of the bargain, and enjoy a night of luxury sheltered from the churning storm outside.

Multiple Endings

The game has been designed as a short experience that must be completed in a single sitting. Multiple endings are provided to encourage curiosity and replayability. There are FOUR endings to complete. Weigh your options and choose wisely.

Speedruns Encouraged

Each playthrough is timed to encourage speedrunning. Your in-game time will be displayed at the end of the game and your best times for each ending will be saved in-game.

Powerful Secrets

The manor has its fair share of secrets. Some of these can help you along the way. Keep an eye out for shortcuts and pickups that may grant you additional speed and abilities.

Forge Your Own Path

There is no predetermined path outside of completing the tasks assigned to you. The game is designed to be short and replayable. Some routes are better than others and the game encourages you to complete multiple playthroughs to find the quickest and most efficient path to complete your goals.

a really fun platformer with super tight movement with lots of secrets to discover. The pixel art is excellent and the game length is just long enough to comfortably play through in one sitting. If you're looking for some good, unsettling horror, def check this one out!

Small, but lovely game with some secrets I enjoyed this game, this is the type where you can fing all endings (and a secret scene?) just doing exploring and trying some ideas. Controls are nice, 2d retro atmosphere, a lot of achievements. Game is short, but it is making easier to find all endings.

It's a fun little game that I knew nothing about going in. It has a eerie/spooky vibe that I liked. Maybe it's a bit too short? You can replay for multiple endings, but it's a little repetitive because it doesn't really branch a lot and the first part is really the same, I still haven't found one of them. I just have a few minor criticisms: - Controls can't be changed? The default keyboard controls are spread out with arrows+tab/q+w+e+space, I usually remap to wasd+hjkl(and/or surrounding keys) layout. I even looked and there's a save.json file, but nothing about keys, unless I'm missing it. - The platforming has a lot of jump-through platforms that you drop down from with down+jump, and holding them doesn't seem to work so you gotta tap jump, and there doesn't seem to be any (or little if there is) forgiveness for early presses, which can be done by buffering the input. - The music in one area loops often and it doesn't fade well, sound like it stops and starts over, I think it's the upper level.

I do like this game. It's affordable and It is short but can be replayed. This is def a speed runner game (not a speed runner myself) so if you're someone who is an achievement collector, buy with caution. You may get frustrated or put hours of replay into it. There are no save points since the game is intended to be played in one sitting and there are no guides or walkthroughs to the under 8 minutes achievements, which is frustrating. I do think with practice it can be achieved. I am not sure if the timer starts again after the first stage even though the timer does continue it's count. It feels impossible to get the under 8 minutes achievement but again I am not a speed runner, this may be different for those who are.

The game is a fantastic example of getting a lot out of little. For how relatively modest the scale of this game is, I found it very engaging and atmospheric. Although I've only seen one ending at time of review, I'm very interested in finding all the others. I don't want to spoil the ending I got, but vaguely speaking I was very pleasantly surprised "something" I tried actually worked. FULL VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cT_m5fkdpiI

Simple and short but fun to play. May be a bit dark for some people. Works on great on Steam deck.
