This game has pretty and interesting graphics and a fun enough idea, simply destroy/build walls and floors in order to help the Minaur find his friends among the underground mess. Problem is that the game is just a confusing mess with every menu and piece of UI being utterly incomprehensible thanks to some messy translation but also heaps of picture buttons, random meaningless rewards and multiple currencies and in-game meters. Its a shame really as underneath all that clutter and nonsense is a game that may be worth playing. Sadly the menus and UI make this an impossibility.6 found this helpful
typical steam indie bs. Made for simple minded people, that like playing a lemmings style game with a tad twist to mechanics but pretty much a modern day lemmings...... Be a good mobile game. it's to simple for me, but hey if you like simple games don't let my review or opinion stop you.1 found this helpful
Minaurs is a deep strategy and puzzle game where you guide a Minaur to rescue other Minaurs. The UI does a poor job of explaining the games functions, so give yourself around an hour to learn how to play. But once it clicks, you have a very deep and engaging game. You don't control your Minaur directly. It wanders around in a manner similar to the lemming's games. You mine a path for it but the game is much more complex than just that. Every planet has a variety of hazard and creatures that interact with each other and your Minaur in different ways. You can pit some species against each other for example, and each creature has its own quirks and weaknesses. You will gain prestige by playing and completing challenges, and you can lose prestige by getting failures. There are a large variety of challenges and failures and it's important to keep track of both. Prestige unlocks skills for your Minaur that can be bought with skill points. These give you even more strategical options to employ. It can take some time to learn what all the icons mean. But its worth the effort. Its a great game for the price and has a ton of depth that isn't obvious by looking at the screen shots.1 found this helpful
I read, and clicked through, several dozen (!!) sentences of background story, and was then presented with a screen that had absolutely ZERO instructions. I clicked on some weird-looking icon -- NO IDEA what I selected -- and now there's some little dude (or something) that can wander back and forth, left and right, at the top of the screen. I shouldn't hafta go on a quest, looking online for instructions, or whatever. Absolutely do NOT recommend -- c'mon, if you can provide DOZENs of lines of lore at the beginning, why not also include at least a coupla lines about what you're supposed to do, and how the controls work??
Its a good game, but can be a bit slow in the beginning.
Clearly a game for pocket phones. Which explains the pitiful GUI, purely made of nondescript doodles. Sans explanations, labels or tooltips. No mice on phones, therefore no mouseovers here. You'll be asked to tap on your monitor from your couch. Clearly a game ported by slackers. Took me a while to grasp the goals and mechanics. The tutorial is even more lacking than the GUI, i.e., there is none whatsoever. Poor first impressions then. That said, once understood, the gameplay is pretty good. Simple, relaxing, rather addicting. You use your brain once, early on, then apply your method on autopilot. Very casual, except for the length of sessions, easily exceeding an hour long each. Only one hand is needed to play; the other one, if you've got another one, is free to do anything else, except clapping. One flaw stays all along, though. There are instances of poor visibility. Some critters are invisible, some walls are too thin, panning is vertically limited, and there is no zooming possible, unfortunately. It's even worse on the second planet, where everything is white on white, poorly contrasted and hard to differentiate. It's aesthetically pleasing enough nonetheless. The sound i…
