✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this atmospheric horror game. While some praise its claustrophobic tension and immersive audio-visual design, many find it more of a walking simulator than a genuine horror experience, with easily dodged enemies, slow chase mechanics, and frustrating bugs like non-functional controls and unclear mechanics. The lack of explanation for why you're in the mine and missing story context also detracts from the experience for several players.

unfortunately wasn't very scary. walking (infinite running) simulator. i would've been fine if it was so bad that it was good, but being chased by meat monsters that shriek in your ears 24/7, with easily dodge-able attacks, and really slow chasing speed wasn't too much fun. the atmosphere was pretty alright, but it irked me a little that we just so happened to wake up in the middle of this mine with no plausible explanation as to how, or why we were there in the first place. i also saw some controls that, when tried, didn't do anything. apparently there's a map, and i figured that it might be accessible later on, but i never got to that part if it does exist. crouch button doesn't work either, and i'm not entirely sure what the point of it is if the monster basically knew where you were all the time? they kind of just spawn in (with a scream, of course), then start barrelling towards the player. 3/10

Mine is a compact, atmosphere-driven horror experience that thrives on simplicity and claustrophobic tension. Developed and published by 99cent, the game places you deep underground in a mining complex with no weapons, no companions, and no clear explanation of how you got there. That absence of context becomes part of the game’s identity: the mine itself is the antagonist, a maze of unstable tunnels, echoing chambers, and oppressive darkness that forces you to rely on instinct rather than equipment. Instead of elaborate mechanics or layered systems, Mine commits to a stripped-down survival structure — one where every sound, flicker of light, or turn in the tunnel feels like it could hide a threat. The game’s greatest strengths lie in its audiovisual atmosphere. Mine doesn’t rely on elaborate monster designs or constant jump scares; instead, it builds tension from the ground up through lighting, spatial design, and sound. Dim lantern glows barely carve through the dark, shadows stretch strangely across rough walls, and the narrow tunnels create a constant sense of confinement. The sound design amplifies this unease — distant footsteps, falling gravel, metallic creaks, and sudden e…
