Monolith (2023)

I feel bad about advising against it, because it does have its good points, until you reach the end, where the game turns into something different – frustrating, ridiculous… I don’t know if this was the original script or something else, because something just doesn’t feel right [spoiler] from the moment you enter the Monolith[/spoiler]. What begins as a sci-fi adventure with good graphics, a great atmosphere, good music, decent dialogue, interesting puzzles, and so on, turns, in the final stretch, into something truly ridiculous, to the point where I’ve decided to give up on it and uninstall it. As I’ve decided to give up on it, I don’t know exactly how it ends, but from what I’ve seen so far, I haven’t liked it… it seems the underlying message is that a woman should devote herself to looking after her family rather than wasting time on adventures or personal projects. I wish the developers had simply followed the game as a point-and-click sci-fi adventure rather than [spoiler] taking that twist where it all turned out to be a dream… what an overused and inappropriate trope here.[/spoiler] On the other hand, given how cheap it is at the moment, I’d recommend that fans of the g…

Oof. I forced my way through 80% of the game and then tried a walkthrough to power through the rest and it was just so bad that I couldn't even manage that. Storyline, writing, translation, jank, variable quality, etc etc etc -- it's not a diamond in the rough, it feels more like something the devs realised was unsalvageable halfway through and then just did the bare minimum to finish off what they had and get it out the door I think the "mostly positive" reviews are being way too generous here, play at your own risk

An old school point-n-click adventure game. The story and setting remind me of The Dig. There are plenty of bugs and the interface is rough, but I'm a sucker for these games, so it's a recommend.

It starts out pretty good. the puzzles aren't too difficult and they're somewhat logical. halfway through however, there's just too much science based stuff, mixing formulas, having to read through manuals to get clues. they aren't really logical at all.. bla bla. i found myself not even trying anymore and just going through the walkthroughs to try to finish the game since i had already spent a few hours on it. i'm trying to give myself a little challenge, but its just slow.... i regret paying for it. Have you ever played Super Mario 2? And got super annoyed at the ending? Yea this is what this game is. Don't play it. the story is lame. lame lame.

This game was an absolute delight until the "Twist" in the end. unfortunatly that sucked and spoiled an otherwise great point and click adventure with an intruiging story and great puzzles. the first 80% of the game are a solid 9/10 the last 20% a 3/10. But adventure fans are used to dissappointing endings so I think we will manage this one as well. /spoiler What really irks me is the overall message in the end that a woman will only ever find happyness if she sacrifises her own ambitions in favor of her family. What backwards thinking boomerdude wrote this garbage? It's 2026 we do not live in that world any more.

6/10 Oh man... as many have said: The game, atmosphere and puzzles itself are very interesting. Some puzzles are confusing/convoluted, especially towards the end. But the main infuriating issue I had with it was the never-ending, slow, boring dialogue and constant meaningless small talk with the Ai drone helper, all which almost ruined the game for me honestly. And no simple SKIP DIALOGUE BUTTON except for constantly pressing the mouse button like a neanderthal. For some awful reason that drone companion sounded like those early 2000s text-to-speech voices. It just seemed to me they wanted to save cost/effort to hire a voice actor, cause it surely can't be that in future any AI would sound like that. Now, some hated to where the game headed to towards the twisty end. It wasn't that bad. I almost had an inkling it leads to something like this due to the earlier flashbacks. But what was truly bad was the execution of that idea, which honestly dragged on into oblivion! Especially the oversentimental/hokey/schmoozy/cheesy (for the German devs: "schmalzig") (in)human interaction and dialogue writing made me almost give this game a bad review. But the overall dedication and passion outs…
