Monster Battles from Fourteen, published by Gamersky Games, is one of those deceptively simple strategy titles that quietly reveals surprising depth the longer you spend with it. At a glance, it looks like a colorful, lightweight auto-battler, but beneath that approachable surface is a layered system that blends roguelike progression, unit synergy, and spatial inventory management into a tightly interwoven loop. Instead of relying on fast reflexes or direct control, the game asks you to think ahead, plan carefully, and accept that sometimes the outcome hinges as much on adaptability as it does on strategy. The defining mechanic is its inventory-based unit placement, which adds a puzzle-like dimension rarely seen in the genre. Monsters aren’t just recruited—they must be physically arranged within a limited grid, and how you position them directly impacts their effectiveness in battle. Some units benefit from adjacency, others require specific alignments to activate bonuses, and certain combinations unlock powerful synergies tied to race or class. This creates a constant push-and-pull between optimizing your layout and making room for new additions, turning what could have been a st…

Great game, a slow start but as you unlock characters and the two hidden factions. The replayability is excellent with a wide variety of characters of units and you have to think on your feet when it comes to adjusting your strategy to available units,

This game is not exactly bad, I've seen a lot of worse ones. But it feels like it was rushed to steal some of the backpack brawls attention and get some sales for itself. Tons of things feels just randomly thrown together, QoL are severly lacking and half of the things that present feels undercooked. Like there is no way to check what you need to fuse some monster into something else. Which would matter, except 95% of the time what you need is two more of the same and what you get is slightly better version. There is also no indication why some monsters are shadowed in the bestiary and some locked. I guess one need to buy monster to get it colored? And level up to unlock? No idea why that is a thing though, as there are only a few locked monsters to begin with. The settings screen is also a barely readable mess. None of that is actually game breaking, you can have some fun here. But there are already 3 paid dlc and with the game in this state and with that much creativity I would not be surprised if it gets abandoned in a year or so. And with main mode being PvP that will be the end it. Maybe wait and see how active developers are and if there are any mention of the missing QoL or …

I had high hopes for this auto battler game, enjoying its simple yet engaging gameplay for several hours on end. The mechanics were well-balanced, and I found myself invested in progressing through the chapters. However, my experience was marred by a single, formidable boss at Chapter 4, Round 12. Its sheer power (two 100/300 heavy goblins) overwhelmed even the strongest of my units, making it a frustrating encounter that left me feeling defeated more often than not. But what's even more disappointing is that after finally emerging victorious, the game bugged out and refused to continue, forcing me to restart from scratch. This kind of frustration can be a major turn-off for players, and I hope the developers will address this issue in future updates.

+Player choice -Clunky AF UX/UI wise -> eg. click fight and it actually starts to fill this timer from left to right as an outline and if you click again it restarts it -Forced story, naturally no VO and with poor translations While the game is right down my alley genre-wise, this was a... = Disappointment. I would not recommend the game for myself, so I won't do it to you either. ............................................________........................ ....................................,.-‘”...................``~.,.................. .............................,.-”...................................“-.,............ .........................,/...............................................”:,........ .....................,?......................................................\,..... .................../...........................................................,}.... ................./......................................................,:`^`..}.... .............../...................................................,:”........./..... ..............?.....__.........................................:`.........../..... ............./__.(.....“~-,_..........................…
