Alien boiled down to its basic elements - facehuggers, androids, aliens, and saving Jonesy the cat. Atmospheric as balls and well worth the 2 quid asking price.7 found this helpful

[/th]

Moonbase Down is a light RPG with horror elements presented in charming retro graphics. The tasks at hand seems simple enough at first but soon you realize that not everything is as straight forward as you thought. Kill the enemies or run past them, the choice is yours, just dont leave the cat behind! This simple yet brilliant game gives a nice nod to the Alien franchise and i love it. A multi-directional shooter meets survival horror! I would have been ecstatic to get this game on my Atari 2600 back in the day. It's a far more faithful interpretation of Alien than what was featured on that platform. Moonbase Down blends elements of the Alien film, Metroid, Awful Green Things, Robotron and Starflight with some original design to provide a simple and fun experience. If you wonder what Alien on the Atari was like, it was Pac-Man... but with aliens! My guess is that was the exact elevator pitch.3 found this helpful
Limited ammo on a ship infested with alien scum. The only way out is through....and don't forget the cat.3 found this helpful
game is pretty cool. cool horror vibes and p simple but good gameplay. i'd say give it a try if you're okay with walking a lot. (i'm impatient, so that didn't exactly hit with me) quit my run though because i lost the cat via some strange collision glitch. sux. also no windowed mode i'd still at least give it a try still.1 found this helpful
Extremely low effort. Maps are made out of a single tile for the most part, plus one slightly different tile for the start tile, one for the exit tile, one for the mid-level objective tile (it either refills your energy or gives you ammo), and ONE WHOLE non-enemy object: what you see in the store page screenshots is not a single level, the whole game looks exactly like that with no meaningful variations. With a single exception, every level is either about finding the exit or about finding the mid-level objective first then finding the exit: the mid-level objectives are always mandatory by the way, you NEED to get the ammo pickup to move on even if you're already well stocked and you NEED to use the energy refill tile to move on even if you're full on energy. The single exception is the level in which you have to find the cat, which plays out just like any of the ammo pickup levels. Enemy variety is pretty good, I think it's 8 different types in total, but the only viable strategy is running (well, walking, you can't run in this game) past them to save ammo for the few times in which they end up camping the exit. Speaking of which, enemies appear to spawn out of thin air in many…
