About Moros Protocol

You wake up aboard The Orpheus, a derelict warship lost in deep space and crawling with horrors. No memory. Only the instinct to fight and a voice urging you forward. The ship shifts around you, the enemies never stop, and survival means battling through blood-soaked corridors to uncover what lies ahead.Set in a haunting, low-poly world with crunchy pixel textures, Moros Protocol blends fast-paced combat of classic '90s and early 2000s FPS games, the unpredictability of genre-defining roguelites, and the challenge of Souls-like boss fights. Battle relentless enemies and towering nightmares in a brutal test of skill and willpower. With procedurally generated levels, evolving threats, and intense action, survival is never guaranteed. The ship is a war zone. The enemy is endless. The odds are against you.
You may be outnumbered, but you are not outmatched.

🔺TACTICAL FPS COMBAT

Moros Protocol combines relentless action with adaptability and customization. Shape your loadout and let the augments and weapons you find dictate your fighting style. And yes, you can kick your enemies.

🔺ROGUELIKE PROGRESSION

Death is only the beginning. Learn, upgrade, and push further into the unknown. Each run is shaped by a combination of handcrafted environments and procedural generation. New layouts. New challenges to face. No two runs will feel the same.

🔺UNIQUE CUSTOM RENDERER

A gritty, immersive world that blends retro aesthetics with modern rendering, creating a decayed sci-fi atmosphere.  Dynamic lighting and eerie sound design heighten the tension as you explore the abandoned warship.

🔺DROP-IN CO-OP

Team up with a friend for backup. Adapt and survive together as you battle through the nightmare. Experience the full game side by side, sharing the fight against the enemy.Message from Pixel Reign: Moros Protocol has been a passion project that started back in 2010 as a concept, which we have been working on for the last 5 years to bring it to life. We are really excited to finally be able to share our vision with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we've enjoyed making it.

Moros Protocol is inspired by some amazing games: DOOM, System Shock, Binding of Isaac, and many other amazing retro-futuristic first-person shooters. Check them out too if you have not already!

✦ AI summary

Moros Protocol is praised for its stylish voxel aesthetics, tight pacing, and well-balanced difficulty that respects player time—offering a roguelike experience accessible to those without hundreds of hours to spare. However, complaints center on limited arena design, underwhelming upgrade impact, frustrating parkour challenges without checkpoints, and gunplay that some find slow or mediocre, making the roguelike progression feel less rewarding than intended.

The game is a blast and costs next to nothing. Some updates: it's not always possible to click "Mix Augments" button (when both of augments are already placed into a mix) at vendor when on gamepad. Same for next zone choice: can't click some points without help of the mouse cursor. Challenge maps are dull.

Moros Protocol is a great FPS roguelite! As long as you have enough stamina you can almost fly through every room while mowing down enemies. While you can't change the difficulty, the game never felt unfair & I really enjoyed the different boss mechanics. The soundtrack fits the dark sci-fi atmosphere perfectly. The 3D pixel environment & different enemy types look fantastic.

Interesting roguelike, but the metaprogression is almost entirely useless. You start the game with around 100HP. A typical upgrade increases your HP by 2. Yes, TWO. Another upgrade increases the healing by TWO POINTS. As the game progresses, they get more expensive, so in a given run you might be able to increase your HP by 6 points. Or increase reload speed by 1%. Or damage by 2%. Some nodes can be purchased more than once, but all in all, after 10-20 runs, you should have a ridiculous 5% increase in reload speed and 10% extra damage. Talk about balace.

Back in 2023, I paid the team a visit and watched this project take shape up close. Seeing it fully released on Steam now makes me really happy. The devs are great people, and I'm glad to see the project complete! The core loop is fast and satisfying: different weapons and augments each run completely change how you play, boss fights carry real weight, and the retro pixel-paint art style with its dark atmosphere comes together really well. Some rooms and enemies repeat after a few hours, and the difficulty spikes hard between bosses. But if you want fast, brutal action with real style, this is a strong first release. Recommended. 😁😁😁

It's ok, but it really is a little too simple for my liking. The pew pew weapon sounds need more balls!! The aesthetics are mostly great though!
