An excellent short game. Worth the price, especially on sale. Played just like Eternal evil and the atmosphere is perfect!
The world war era aesthetic is top notch, very realistic. The puzzles was fun to solve. The projector room sequence was filled with tension! The shadows pushing, the creatures coming from each side, and the projector playing some horrific images. A good horror experience that I do recommend.
A 2 hours loss of time and money.
A Decent Indie Effort with Room to Grow If you're looking for a quick, low-stakes experience, Mortanis Prisoners isn't a bad way to spend an afternoon—provided you go in with the right expectations. It feels very much like a small-scale passion project, and while it has its charms, there are some significant pacing issues that keep it from being a "must-play" at full price. The Breakdown: The Pacing: The movement speed is a major hurdle. The "run" button basically just gets you to a standard walking speed, and the regular walk is painstakingly slow. Without a jump mechanic, traversing the environment can feel like a bit of a chore. The Challenge: To put it bluntly, it's very easy. The enemies don't offer much in the way of engagement or threat, and you’ll likely breeze through the content without much resistance. Gameplay & Feel: It’s a slow-burn experience. While it’s not "bad," it definitely needs more polish on the enemy variety and player mobility to make the gameplay loop feel truly rewarding. Final Thoughts: I’m not mad I bought it, and I’m not mad I played it—I actually knocked out 100% of the achievements in about 5 hours. It’s a fine little project, but it’s…
I would only recommend if it's at a good sale price. Is a short game, easy to get 100% achievements if that's your thing.
certainly not a bad experience thus far (and i've only just begun - but most would agree that the opening hour of a game is likely its most important) but its not quite what i thought it would be. the trailer indicated a game with more bite (especially considering the historical weight that it wields) but the opening half hour has felt like a slog to me and despite the interesting tidbits of lore and information sprinkled throughout, I, as a player, see no real reason to continue...i dont know. this one is a solid 5/10 for me. another example of why steam needs a "mediocre" button. i may revisit it but there are just so many other titles to enjoy and this one failed to engage me as a player during those crucial opening moments (other than the fact that the narrator of the game's intro sounded to me like oft-criticized-YouTube-historian Mark Felton). the monsters looked cool. *shrugs*
