A time capsule from the 2000s in the worst way. Loading screens on EVERY level transition; the developer never moves to preload anything and so you better hope that you have something interesting on your social media feed because this game about horror and suspense will put you in the penalty box just for progressing. Oh- and the dialogue boxes? This is the kind of game that handles everything through dialogue boxes. Walk into a room- see a dead body? That dead body has 6 lines of dialogue and all of them are fluff- and the fluff is not even written well. I went into the first real room thinking the AI was broken as I sat there interacting with all of the soda machines and other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥- and the second I walk towards them they scurry away and a distortion glitch appears. That was supposed to be a jumpscare. "That was supposed to be a jumpscare?" is going to be a constant refrain. I laughed at most of them, honestly. I picked up an ammo box and the glitch effect warned me that something was happening- so I already was ready to react to the zombie turning the corner. [h3]The good[/h3] [*] World-building is pretty solid, even for such a short game [*] The action-adventure [i]feels[/i] like action-adventure, where I can honestly say that at every level in the game I felt like I was stepping into the unknown. [*] The combat, albeit a bit easy for a game with the "horror" tag attached, is generally satisfying enough, with monsters that don't feel boring. [*] The narrative delivered via voice logs and communications is not a new concept but works pretty well in this game. [*] Since "retro" can mean anything, and video doesn't convey gameplay feeling, the game looks like a polished Quake 3 engine game, but plays like a polished Quake 2 engine game. [h3]The bad[/h3] [*] The game being as short as it is, there's not much of a world, so the levels can feel a bit confined and linear (yes, even for a retro game). Game is okay, was hoping for more. I dont mind the graphics or the simplistic story but its the gameplay bugs that ruin it. Some colliders on walls are missing so you just fall through the map and have to reload. The player tends to get stuck on things often. Would have liked a bit more difficulty. There are heals and ammo every 5 feet so it doesn't even matter if you take damage.

Short, sweet, and just really, really good! Yes it has bugs and some jank, yes some of the combat scenes are a bit tougher, but the twist and choice at the end? Loved it. What a cool game!
