About My Shadow

The Mind can sometimes be too imaginative. While you tuck yourself into your bed and turn the lights off, the creatures of the night begin to appear. As you hide under your bedsheet, they surround you. As you begin to drift away, they take you, down, deep into the depths, of your mind...

Welcome to the hauntingly surreal realm of My Shadow, a mesmerizing 2.5D Horror Puzzle Platformer that thrusts players into the enigmatic depths where reality and imagination intertwine. As the night descends, a mysterious world materializes, inviting you to embark on an otherworldly journey through the intricate labyrinth of your own mind.

Traverse the intricacies of the distorted dollhouse, solving puzzles that gradually unveil the truth about your innermost demons.

2/10 - Terrible controls and poor camera work. You can move in all 4 directions, but the camera is mostly from the side. The character has no shadow to see if you are in front of, behind or exactly on the next platform. So you often fall in front of or behind the platform. The first two times I died, I didn't respawn and I couldn't get into the menu - only Alt+F4 helped. Jumping doesn't work with the Xbox One controller, and the achievements don't work.

Good game, parkour is frustrating. Would be cool to have some kind of way to tell where you will land when doing parkour.

My Shadow is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Well, maybe. This is an interesting entry in the old dead platformer genre, and very importantly while the developer chose a dead format for a game (and part of the failure here is because of that), it's got 3D graphics and isn't pixelcrap. Certainly this has higher quality than most platformers on Steam and that's laudable. Unfortunately there's no prizes for being tall for a midget. It's a horror puzzle platformer where reality blends with imagination. Your goal is to solve puzzles, unraveling mysteries in a distorted, nightmarish world... and really all of that is fine, and coupled with the decent presentation this could have been a competitor to platformers like Trine (it's ok if you never heard of it... dead genre, remember?). But the killer here, that made this flop even with die hard platformer fans, is crappy controls, crappy camera, and sheer lack of polish in the actual gameplay. …

My Shadow for me, was a bit of a disappointment... I am usually all into this type of indie games and I love to support small indie developers. My Shadow seemed to be incredible at first, with a lot of vibes of Little Nightmares. But the game plays extremely bad... don't know if is the controls that are simple wrong if is the mechanics that are poorly optimised. And has if this is not enough, the achievements don't work... Yes I know, I never gonna be able to complete all the achievements. But I am sure I should have received at least two, during my playtrough, and nothing. Anyway, although I feel sad to saying it, at its current state, I cannot recommend it.
