Mystery Case Files: The Last Resort Collector's Edition

Game is broken. Do not download/buy. Game-breaking bug prevents game progression. I tried the same puzzle four times but every time, the game would crash.

It keeps crashing on the powers switch. None of the fixes available worked for me. I love the series but don't buy this one, as it's broken and developers don't care apparently. And since I bought it in a bundle promo, I can't even get a refund, as I would have to give back all the ones that actually work. So lesson learned - don't buy bundles.

I really liked this one, the setting, the story, all very cool! Still wouldn't pay full price for it though, I got the MCF bundle when it had a big discount. It did crash when I tried to switch the breaker on, but I managed to fix it! The steps I took: 1. In Steam click on the cog and then "Browse local files" 2. Edit "config.json" and set "is_ce" to false 3. Go to "C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\GrandMA Studios\Mystery Case Files - The Last Resort" 4. Rename the "CE" directory to "SE" 5. Launch the game This disables the collectors edition stuff though, so you will lose your collectibles progress and in-game guide. However, after completing the game you can set "is_ce" back to "true" and rename the "SE" directory back to "CE". Then you can go to the extras menu in game to get all the collectibles afterwards.

Not quite sure what happened here . This is not up to the usual MCF standard. Although some of the games were interesting, it was lacklustre and although I finished it (only to get the achievements) I was bored for a lot of the time.

Though it's shorter than some of the other titles in the series, the game is surprisingly enjoyable. The story is standard fair for the series, the logic puzzles are pleasantly distinct, and the hidden object scenes are decently common and varied in their presentation. Can't say I believe in saving assorted royalty from their poor life decisions, but overall I'd give the game a 8/10
