Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition

Nioh 2 is a hack-and-slash looter pretending to be a Souls-like. While Act I offers a fun initial rush, the illusion wears off pretty quick. By Act II, the game reveals itself as an exhausting grind that prioritizes repetitive loops over rewarding design. The game relies heavily on blatant map reskins and unchanging, monotonous enemies. Instead of introducing fresh environments as you progress. It utilizes artificial difficulty. It simply forces you into tighter, frustrating spaces—like cramped caves and mountain passes—to fight the exact same foes. The combat is okay but highly redundant. It caters to players who like constantly swapping weapons and stances. If you prefer mastering a single weapon and style for a playthrough, this game is not for you. Sure, you could do it, but you won't have the fun it intends if you forego trying other weapons and styles. The massive skill tree is just dress-up. Because of key-mapping limitations, you can only use a few skills at a time. Swapping them in menus is tedious, and the gameplay devolves into glorified button mashing. Han pasado apenas unos minutos desde que terminé el juego, así que estoy escribiendo esta review con las sensaciones todavía muy frescas. En pocas palabras, Nioh 2 es un sucesor digno de Nioh 1. Todo lo que el primer juego hacía bien aquí se expande y se refina. Las mecánicas se aprovechan mucho mejor, el árbol de habilidades resulta mucho más claro e intuitivo y, gracias a la experiencia adquirida en el juego anterior, comprender sistemas como el crafteo, la mejora de equipamiento, los accesorios o la nueva mecánica de los Soul Cores se vuelve algo bastante natural. A esto se suma un rendimiento muy sólido, prácticamente sin problemas técnicos, y una banda sonora que, especialmente durante los combates contra los jefes principales, transmite una enorme sensación de epicidad sin perder la esencia de la temática japonesa.
