Underrated masterpiece, Best Dark Souls game.

I personally prefer this version over Scholar of the First Sin, most likely because of nostalgia (as this was the first Souls game I played). This version suffers from some jank SotFS doesn't because it is a 32-bit executable, and the world itself feels fairly barren due to the rushed nature of development. There are significantly less NPC summons around as well comapred to SotFS. Lighting differences, AI differences. Honestly a lot of that doesn't matter. This version of the game retains that dreamlike feel I remember this game having. Like everything is being viewed through the lens of an unreliable narrator. It's quite an experience.

Dark Souls II is absolutely wonderful. Dark Souls II perfectly delivers as a sequel and improves on the first game in every conceivable way. This installment is clever and carefully designed.

The game is full of nonsense, enemy placement, a stat that is required to live, gank bosses, and so on BUT still has some charm. Give it a try, but expect to die a lot due to its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ design.
