NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Taishi

Taishi is a good game, and as far as battles go, it's the best of the Nobunaga series. In my personal opinion, the Power-Up Kit version is even better than Shogun 2 because it captures the atmosphere of the Sengoku era more authentically. Unfortunately, Taishi hasn't been fully appreciated by Koei, who didn't release the Power-Up Kit in english, which greatly improves the battle gameplay. It's also been incorrectly compared by users to Nobunaga's Sphere of Influence or Ascension. These two titles have a different focus, based on fiefdom management, while Taishi doesn't aim to excel in this, because it focuses on battles, which is the true soul of the Sengoku era. The comparison is therefore decidedly wrong and unfair. Furthermore, Soi and Ascension have a highly simplified battle gameplay compared to Taishi. Power-up kit: introduces a series of battle improvements, introduces siege battles, improves overall fiefdom management, and significantly expands the aspects of espionage and the loyalty of generals, both our own and those of opposing clans. Really solid strategy game with a really good historical base, informative, fun and very interactive, gives me access to every single action that's within reason. Would defo recommend this to someone who loves strategy as much as me.

Don't be misled by the Mixed reviews, this game is only getting most of it's bad reviews because it gets compared too much to the other installments of the game, but if you abandon all of those expectations and just treat this game as a stand alone game you will get to experience it's beauty truly. I personally think that it is one of the most freeing Nobunaga game ever made, there is no pathing restrictions, you can gather pretty much anywhere and attack any target you want, having a full charge during battle is cool and fun, your mind wraps around the variables, your money, your musket and horses stock, your economic growth and income etc, I still think the character assigning system could be a bit better but it doesn't affect the main experience much, you are highly free to choose your enemies and build alliances, thinking about which enemy and which castle you would want to take next and planning, growing and building your own fief just to build up a good amount of forces needed for your next declaration of war on another lord, it is a fun game, the battles can get quite nuanced too if you want to really take control of the unites and it made the battle ability system easy to…
