Lead Japan's Warring States era as a rising officer climbing from retainer to Daimyo, managing your territory's unique resources and facilities while commanding troops in strategic battles with real-time objectives. This entry in the Nobunaga's Ambition series revolutionizes the formula with Officer Play perspective, territory gardening mechanics, and dramatically evolved siege and naval combat that play out differently based on dynamic battlefield missions.
In the simulation game series "Nobunaga's Ambition", players aim to unify Japan in the troubled times of the Warring States era.

NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Sphere of Influence - Ascension offers a deep and intricate strategy experience that appeals to fans of historical simulation and grand-scale empire management. Building upon the foundations of its predecessor, the game introduces a wealth of enhancements and new features that elevate the complexity and immersiveness of the gameplay. Visually, the game maintains a traditional aesthetic that faithfully captures the Edo period of Japan, with detailed maps, character models, and art styles that evoke the atmosphere of feudal Japan. The interface is user-friendly for a game of such depth, allowing players to navigate through various menus and strategic layers with relative ease, though the sheer volume of options can initially feel overwhelming for newcomers. The core gameplay revolves around political maneuvering, military conquest, resource management, and diplomatic relations. Players take on the role of a daimyo, aiming to unify Japan through a combination of warfare, alliances, and strategic planning. The game’s mechanics are robust, offering multiple paths to victory—be it through military dominance, economic strength, or diplomatic influence. One of the sta…1 found this helpful
If grand strategy is your jam, pick this game up for sure. It hasn't been on sale for half a decade. This is a great game. I am very pleased to administrate my fiefs and conquer in the name of my master. Betray my master and strike out on my own? Why would I do that when my master is graciously allowing me to use his armies to capture castles for myself? Besides, he really gives me a lot of headpats when I cause the defection of an entire House to my clan. You can really feel Shibusawa's passion for the Sengoku Jidai period. I only ever played the SNES versions before, and this somehow carries the spirit of the gameplay through. I see that other people have their nitpicks, but this is really just very compelling for a grand strategy sim. The citybuilding and district placement aspect is a fun puzzle on a per-castle basis, and also forgiving because the districts keep their 'upgrades' even if you rebuild them to a different type. The combat is streamlined compared to something like Shogun 2 Total War. Overall I rate it five rice paddies and four tea caddies.
