✦ AI summary

One Eleven is a murder mystery visual novel with dating sim elements that features an engaging story, atmospheric noir visuals, and a memorable soundtrack, with players praising the well-developed characters and replay value from semi-randomized victim sequences. However, the game is significantly hampered by poor English translation with clunky grammar and confusing phrasing, inconsistent voice acting quality, and some players finding the mystery mechanics overly simplistic with obvious killers and limited suspect options.

Review updated after the game's major update 1.7. One Eleven is a 'whodunit' type visual novel. Our character, Hugh, goes on a speed dating event that happens in a venue on an island. However, just after the event finishes, a terrible storm begins, destroying the only bridge leading to the island, so we're all cut off from the rest of the world for the night. But that's only the start of our nightmares, because soon enough we discover that one of us has been killed and there's a killer among us. It is a pretty great idea to have this kind of mix of a murder mystery story surrounding a group of 12 people and some romance building. Moreover, the order in which the characters become victims is semi-random each time you play, which really increases replay value. A single playthrough isn't too long and so it's not a chore to replay the game and try some other decisions. The way the game creates a variety of events that can occur is impressive, although the story still is pretty linear, and the same sequence of main events will occur regardless of what you do (aside from the game over and early endings). And unfortunately this does mean that the plot of the game is a lot more on the r…

I can't do it ! It is clear that 0 fluent English speakers worked on this game. Translation is just horrible and is very clunky to read, a combination of very basic grammatical errors and obscure vocabulary use that ranges from confusing to complete nonsense. In-game text: "Perhaps I should have dressed up, as many people judge you by your clothes first. But on the other hand... We definitely will not get together with modern ladies, obsessed with the fashion industry and care for the looks, and it is better to dot the i's and cross the t's immediately. " Huh?? HUH???? What is that even supposed to mean in this context?? To dot I's and cross T's means to do something meticulously, carefully, and without flaw. Ironic!! The English voice actors also do not speak English fluently, there are plenty of mispronunciations and misreadings present in the audio. It also barely comes across as acting in some parts, the voice cadence of many sentences sound like the speaker is simply reading individual words from a teleprompter and has no idea where the rest of the sentence is going or what the meaning of it is. I bought it on sale for $5 and I feel cheated. They should pay me $5…

One Eleven is a detective visual novel with dating sim elements. You play as Hugh, a guy who builds birdhouses. After reading about speed dating in newspaper, he decides to go, thinking it’s a way to pass the time. What could possibly happen? A heavy rainstorm that cuts off all escape routes, and a maniac hidden among eleven strangers. Your mission is to gather evidence, uncover the killer, and the most important to survive. The game features a varied and pleasant soundtracks, visuals in a noir style and 2 difficulty levels. It’s also fully voiced (not perfect, but overall decent enough). Your choices significantly impact the narrative and your relationships with other 11 characters. All characters are unique, each with their own distinct traits and style. The game offers several endings, and it’s worth noting that the killer is randomly generated
(not among all)
, so it can be a different character in your various playthroughs. Overall, I can say that this game is pretty good, featuring a nice story, plenty of achievements to unlock, and there also a +18 DLC. Really good game. I was genuinely invested in the plot and characters, and I feel like more people should play. I don't like all the random sexism about "girls do this" or "guys do that" which was honestly the most annoying part for me. Someone else has mentioned this but it really ends up coming down to just having a lot of people dying and picking one of two people (and the killer is always super obvious) which is depressing honestly, though the fact I actually still gave a ♥♥♥♥ about all the character when they were dying is a testament to how well written they are Also, to all the people complaining about the bad ends, git gud. You literally just have to do nothing. Only investigate the shed fire once it's already happened, etc. I'm but a humble aroace, so I appreciate that despite it also being a dating sim, you can just ignore the romance and be fine. Also there's some scenes that are mentioned like "oh but she wasn't outside when we were all reacting to the explosions" and I was like "how was I supposed to know that?" because the scene was never actually shown. Or when the storm happened and apparently people left and came back??? but the scenes of that were never shown. …
