To all BWA fans and the creators of this game. After playing hours and hours of Orbi's Chronicles, I now describe this game as being the missing link between Bookworm Adventures and Super Metroid! This game is super awesome because it reminds me of both Super Metroid and Bookworm Adventures 2, two of my most favorite games from Windows PC and the SNES. I also like the comic book layout of the game. It has a unique soundtrack as well as decent visuals. Hopefully, we will get an Orbi's Chronicles 2 as well! I don't regret my purchase of this game, being a BWA fan. This game gets a 100 from me.5 found this helpful
as much as i love word games and trying to find the best alternative to bookworm adventures, i sadly have to give this game a thumbs down recommendation. here are the reasons to your questions: [list] [*]for steam deck players, you must adjust the screen size manually from the option menu and it does not save when you exit the game. so you have to keep doing it every time you launch the game but... [*]again for steam deck players, there is NO SAVE FILE when you exit the game so always keep it open in the background. i exited the game once during Chapter 1 then relaunched it but the Continue button stays greyed out. when i selected New Game, funnily enough it told me i had a save file but where was it if the Continue button could not be selected? [*]if you love to touch the screen on your steam deck... be aware of the hangman trap minigame. DO NOT TOUCH THE GUESSING WORD or else, the letters will disappear! [*]at the anagram shrine minigame, the answer could be two words and it has no spacing for the guessed word[s]. for example, bnegneeras was the anagram i got with the theme vegetables and the answer was greenbeans (without spacing). [*]the font for O and D looks almost si…4 found this helpful
"Orbi's chronicles" is an unusual, almost unique premise for a game. Although, just because something is unusual doesn't mean it's good. This is a word game puzzle with some lightweight RPG elements. Scrabble meets the worst aspects of static screen JRPG "combat". The idea is that you are on a visual novel esque space adventure and you "fight" enemies by making words from a selection of letters, dealing and taking damage as you fight. RPG elements let you heal, stun your enemy and shuffle your available letters. It's supposed to be family friendly, I guess it could be used as an educational aid or something, but the somewhat wooden voice acting, bad writing and mediocre graphics put this far out of consideration for any serious PC gamer. Besides, you can play word puzzle games on mobile or on the web for free, so why should anyone pay money for one on Steam? From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game is comprised of somewhat mediocre hand drawn 2D illustrations instead of professional looking 3D game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create g…3 found this helpful
A very addictive game, which offers both a challenging mode and a relaxed laid-back mode if you just want to relax. Definitely recommended!!3 found this helpful
Orbi’s Chronicles, developed and published by IMPERIAL DYNAMICS, is an indie RPG that sets itself apart with a concept that feels both unusual and ambitious: combat driven by word creation. Instead of relying on conventional attacks or skill rotations, the game challenges players to form words as a means of dealing damage, blending vocabulary, quick thinking, and traditional RPG mechanics into a hybrid system that is immediately distinctive. It’s the kind of idea that draws curiosity right away, and much of the game’s identity hinges on how well this central mechanic holds up over time. The core gameplay loop revolves around dungeon exploration, enemy encounters, and loot collection, but every combat situation is filtered through this word-based system. Players construct words from available letters, with longer or more complex combinations typically resulting in stronger attacks or additional effects. This introduces a layer of strategy that goes beyond standard turn-based combat, as success depends not only on character progression but also on the player’s ability to think quickly and creatively. Early on, this mechanic feels fresh and engaging, encouraging experimentation and r…2 found this helpful
