About Paper Trails
Become the investigator. Build the case.
Paper Trails is a narrative detective game where you solve crimes inside a believable desktop environment. Your job is simple: open the files, follow the trail, and prove what happened — before the story outruns you. You’ll sift through emails, chat logs, reports, photos, receipts, timelines, and hidden metadata, then connect evidence into a clear accusation. Every case is built to feel grounded: messy, human, and full of contradictions.Investigate like a real detective
- Search and cross-reference documents across a simulated desktop
- Spot inconsistencies, missing pieces, and deliberate misdirection
- Build a timeline, link suspects to motives, and verify alibis
- Use deduction to move from “interesting clue” to solid proof
Talk to a sharp AI persona (live, in-game)
Need a second brain? Interrogate a responsive AI-driven persona during gameplay. Ask for interpretations, challenge assumptions, request summaries, or push for alternative theories — then decide what to trust.Procedural cases, curated outcomes
Cases are generated to create fresh investigations, but the experience stays curated: the goal is not randomness — it’s replayable mystery that still feels authored. What to expect
- Crime & investigation themes (no graphic violence, no sexual content)
- A focused, story-driven singleplayer experience
- A case-based loop built for stream-friendly moments: reveals, twists, and “wait… what?” evidence
