Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/9Y7v4LyEXfE This is a neutral recommendation. This game is basically a haunted house experience. You're in a mental asylum and you basically go door to door where you'll usually encounter some sort of jump scare. You find keys to unlock the place as you go along. Game uses VRGK for some unexplicable reason on the Unreal Engine 4.2. Game runs horribly, until you lower the graphics. I recommend setting shadows to low, at least on an RTX 3080 or below. You have full locomotion and smooth or snap turning available. You can play comfortably seated. The game feels janky, like almost every VRGK game. I recognized several of the 3D model assets from other VR games. However, the game does look good. I only paid $6 so I am not going to complain. It's a cheap horror game. It delivered on that. Rate 5/10.
I bought this game! 🔥 "Phantom Asylum VR is a truly terrifying experience that pushes the boundaries of horror in virtual reality! From the moment you step into the abandoned asylum, the atmosphere grips you with its eerie sounds, disturbing visuals, and unpredictable paranormal events. Every corner holds a new nightmare, making each step feel like a test of courage." 👁️ "The immersive VR mechanics pull you deep into the horror, with realistic motion tracking and intense jump scares that will leave your heart racing. If you love psychological horror and spine-chilling mysteries, this game is an absolute must-play!" ⭐ 10/10 – Not for the faint of heart! 😱

It's a budget horror game, so you should keep your expectations low accordingly. I got a free key from the developer, and while their generosity is appreciated, I don't know if "yes" or "no" would really apply here. It's nothing you haven't seen before, but it's nothing too egregiously awful, either. It feels like the VR equivalent of those old bargain bin games from back in the day. So I'm gonna give it a neutral recommendation. Give it a shot, if for no other reason than to play ventriloquist with a couple of the animals you'll find.
