Picross Floof

The other reviews are right. I don't get the impression that the creators understand what makes picross fun and just assumed fun sprite art (and possibly offensive, like "fat man", and copyrighted content like PacMan and Tetris) was enough. Some of the levels will force you to guess repeatedly and then kick you from your game because you couldn't guess correctly. I realize that the description states this, but that just feels like lazy game design when you're actually playing it. "Calm and relaxing" isn't this. It feels like phone shovelware that would be plastered with ads. Even for a dollar I'd say skip it.

If Picross is your thing then I'd suppose it would be alright. But I know I've played much better Picross based games so I can't recommend this particular interation. It doesn't necessarily do anyhthing wrong, it's just bland.

Picross Floof is a "Picross" puzzle game, which is to say it's a Sudoku/Minesweeper like game where you must deduce where to put blocks on a 2D grid based on clues on each axis. The resultant block placement pattern forms a simple 2D image, what fun. Basically the business model for this game is to compete with the puzzle section at the back of a newspaper, only badly. The game itself is 3D rendered, but that low poly rendering just adds a backdrop to the browser like interface here... it's very poorly done. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. Look, if you like picross games and are a collector like me, listen to me, it isn't worth it. The puzzles seem to be randomly generated and some of them are not intuitive at all. I'm an experienced picross player and at some puzzles I found myself GUESSING where the next pixel would be because the puzzles had more than one solution. Just trust the other reviews.

Not bad for the $1 price tag but I still wouldn't recommend this, even to nonogram fans. There's a good amount of levels that require guesswork, which I will say they did give a disclaimer for, but it's still a red flag for a nonogram game imo. The fact there's lives for each level puts a wrench in the enjoyment of solving a nonogram as well. As others have said the composite levels are nice but they're far from saving this experience. I think the biggest realization for me that I wouldn't thoroughly enjoy the rest of it was when I realized there's at least two puzzles with the exact same solution, which is just so lame. Seems more like a small project that needed filler rather than a passionate project by a nonogram fan.

Some of the puzzles are completely unsolveable without randomly guessing.
